I have a 2010 and the daytime running lights burn the inside of the lenses. I just replaced them and was wondering if anyone knew that if I used led bulbs would this still happen.

Long answer, you need to ask yourself if you’re that guy.

Yes you can stick led bulbs in your headlights housing. You will notice everything lit up insanely bright.

You will also notice people flashing their high beams at you because you’re blinding them.

So if you’re the guy who doesn’t care about blinding everyone in front of you then you do you. Us normal people are hoping the answer is no.

Pretty sure he's referring to the DRL/Tail/Turn (Amber) bulbs not the actual headlight bulbs, yes you could put LED bulbs there to keep it from melting but you would need load resistors or to modify the flasher relay to prevent hyperflash.

So a resistor in parallel with the LEDs? I assume LEDs would have less of a load, then the flasher relay would flash faster. kind of like when you have a burnt out incandescent bulb, but another is still ok. The resistor value would be chosen to simulate the load of the factory bulbs.

I’m pretty sure Toyota had a recall or tsb for certain years of the DRL’s burning/melting the plastic lens inside the headlight. They gave me new headlights on my old 09 taco and they stopped melting. I’m sure an led would help or look into getting the updated headlight assembly.

LED's installed and aimed properly won't blind oncoming drivers. They aren't as good as LED's that come from the factory but are a small improvement over standard bulbs. The biggest advantage is that they last a lot longer and are cheaper in the long run.

LEDs don't focus properly, no amount of pan and/or tilt can correct for the emitter faces being out of the focal point of the reflector

Ok yes you can use these LED bulbs in you running lights.https://undergroundlighting.com/pro...rs-no-hyper-flash-pair?variant=32000496566341[IMG] Been using these for about 2 1/2 months no hyperflash but they are bright as DRL's.@Dekoy909 got these too

Welcome to the forum. If you replaced the headlights with the same part number, it would be advisable to put LEDs in the DRL to prevent it from melting again. Note LEDs in the DRL only, not in the main headlights. If you replaced the lights with the updated part number where Toyota fixed the issue, then you should run the stock incandescent bulbs in the DRL as there is no risk to melting the DRL in the new units. The TSB with the part numbers is available here.

Most of us never got the free replacements as look it was a TSB so you had to know within 3/36.
After the first year I never used the dealer much after getting the stiffer 4 pack leafs and a resealed front windshield done for free.

I have LED headlights and the only time I get flashed is when I forget to go to low beam. I find my LEDs work great on rural roads where there are no streetlights and a plus is I've seen more deer in the ditches even with low beams on.

PnP LEDs definitely do not belong in the halogen headlight assemblies as headlights. The likely reason you can see more deer on low beam is because you have stray scatter above the cut off line typical of putting LEDs in halogen assemblies where they don't belong, making you a hazard to other drivers on the road. Not being flashed is not an indication that your beam pattern is correct.
