Well, I bought my 22 DCLB Sport a year and a half ago. I had an Icon suspension put under it, did tires, several other mods to it and really loved the truck and how it looks. We went off roading several times. Why sell it then? I have to use my truck for work and I put about 25,000 miles per year on it. Awesome looking truck, but not so comfortable for 250 miles per day. I read all the posts and tried to make it more comfortable, seat jackers, etc. but never could get situated right in it. When the dealer had a discount advertised for $4,200 off sticker this week for a Tundra, I drove that truck and it definitely fit this 57 yo body better. (It sucks giving up a truck you loved but I traded it in). I want to thank everyone here for the prompt answers when I posted questions, it was appreciated. I have included a pic of my Tacoma, I'll miss the way it looked and the pride of ownership of it. 22 Tacoma.jpg

How could you give up the skewp?!

Seriously though, when you're driving that kind of mileage it's miserable to be uncomfortable. I've been getting the itch myself to go full size half ton, but if I brought home a new truck my wife would make me sleep in it, so I will keep what I have. Let's see some pics of the Tundra! :)

Hey you still are in the Toyota family.

I sat in a new Tundra 1794 Edition the other day, sure was nice! Sticker at 72K.

Congrats on the purchase and post a pic!

I understand where you're coming from, but it doesn't make sense to me to pay $60,000 or more, maybe much more, for a truck to drive 60,000 miles/year commuting to work. If you like the Tundra keep it, but I'd be finding a small car to commute that far. You'll have 300,000 miles on the Tundra in 5 years.

My son commutes 100-150 miles daily. He paid $2500 for a used 2009 Honda that he commuted to work in, saved the miles on his better car. He got 40 MPG and in the 3 years he owned it only put one set of tires on it. Paid about the same for 4 tires as one tire will cost for the Tundra. He had about 300,000 on it when he was rear ended by some gal at a traffic light and they totaled it. Insurance company gave him $7500 for it. He took that money and bought a 2012 Hyundai.

Thanks for the insight, I'll be a little more concise. I put 25,000 per year on my truck, which includes work. My job dictates that I must drive a 4 door pickup truck. In exchange I receive $789 per month plus mileage reimbursement which averages $.50 cents per mile on 20,000 of the 25,000 annual miles. So it's mostly paid for by my company.

Yes, I like it too. I've had 2 Tundras and really liked them. I now have a Taco, won't be able to afford any more Tundras as I'm retired and they out of my price range now.

Congrats!!! The new truck looks terrific!!!!! I'm sure you will LOVE IT!!!!!!!!

I drive about 60K miles per year - my main office commute is 120 miles roundtrip. I have just under 250K trouble free miles on my Tacoma (TRD OR) which I bought new in Jan of 2019. I put a deposit on a 23 Tacoma Pro - it should be here in a week or 2.

I seriously considered a full size - in fact I drove a Tremor (V8) and really liked it but with the miles I put on it I don't trust it will be trouble free. Plus I own a horse farm - surrounded on 2 sides by a small river. The Tacoma allows me to drive around the small trails on our property and I'm not sure the Tremor or Tundra would allow me to easily maneuver around trees and such.

I am bit older than you and I plan to retire in 3-5 years. That is why I'm buying another Tacoma. In truth, my truck still looks and drives like new; I just don't want any repairs over the next 3-5 years; and if I keep my current truck I'll certainly have repairs as I'll continue to drive 50-70K miles each year.

I'll probably buy a larger truck when I retire - or my wife - who does't work - might get one earlier (she daily drives a 4Runner Pro).

Congratulations! Lovely truck. I almost purchased a Tundra over my Tacoma this year but don’t need something so large. I did like it better, no need for my usage as of now.

Highly suggest you do the first oil change early, really as with every new engine break-in. Amsoil even suggest the first change at 200 miles to help rid the engine of extra metals. I personally use an oil evacuator and suck that factory fill out at 200 miles to replace with an high quality synthetic of my choice. My second was an 600 miles. Also, forced induction engines are highly prone for fuel dilution. I have not seen UOA’s on this motor but extended OCI’s are generally a really bad idea. I know you drive a lot, but when it when it comes to dilution this will greatly increase wear. Also, highly recommend premium fuel if you don’t want your knock sensors going nuts. Low octane and forced induction / high compression are a contradiction. Oil evacuator is a fantastic way to save $ and do the in between changes yourself.

Congrats and I don't blame you one bit. If I needed to drive 250 miles a day the Tacoma wouldn't be my first choice.

Thank you, great advice. When my 22 Tacoma hit 25,000 miles, I was having its 6th oil change performed. I'm a believer in!
I have never heard of fuel dilution before. Would an fuel additive be needed or is high test fuel good enough?
