How much can you expect from a design dating back to 1938. :notsure:

Slow but sounds great, kind of like our Tacoma - slow but looks great.

‘67 Plymouth Valiant had ‘em. Was faster scraping the windows with my hockey stick than to fuss with ‘em. Be late for practice otherwise. :smash:

One nice thing about the vacuum wipers - if someone :gossip: *cough* like Mrs Green for example was in the habit of shutting the car off with the wipers on in freezing weather they didn't have enough power to rip the rubber off the frozen to the windshield wiper blades.

If it was that cold the Valiant likely wouldn’t start so wiper blades lasted like forever

@RustyGreen if ya want slow, just get in our Outback. It seems like it has pep, but it's just the CVT masking the anemic 2.5L flat 4. Bout as fast as a snail with a hard on. If you want to pass, you got to make sure you got a mile of room

Does turning off the A/C help? Rented a Hyundai pony once & turning it off was just like grabbin’ another cog. :turtleride:

Actually AC doesn't seem to lug down the engine at all. Probably some variable thing.

Now, in the Tacoma, the AC drags it down hard. Can feel it cycling on and off especially being manual since you are always directly connected

Out Highlander has a CVT and that thing moves when you put your foot down. I'm sure the electric motors have absolutely nothing to do with that, though...

Stuck behind people on 2 lane roads coming back from Canada, when it would get clear and you go to pass, she'd hit 90 in a surprisingly short time. And was still able to average 35MPG for the 1,000 mile trip. :)

I hear tell we have some in the western part of the state.

Sort of kept on the down low as they can out procreate rabbits .

some people have no clue the damage they can make.

Mrs Green has a 97 Outback with a 2.5 quad cam and a 4 speed automatic.

It surely isn't the fastest car out there but never feels underpowered either, really a very nice car to drive.

Hard for me to get (down) into after 3 decades of trucks & SUVs though.

It is much easier for me also to get up into a vehicle.

I think getting out of a car could be a challenge it has been quite a few years.
