Not the cleanest, as aluminum cuts much better with gas versus air but this came out clean AF for my first time on aluminum!

I kinda wonder how alum will do for that application. Is it 6061 or 5053?

5053 as it's what I wanted for both practicing on my table and dialing settings in, as well as bending on the press.

6061 or 6xxx series is supposed to crack when put on the press.

But the cuts done with gas on this table are sooooo clean  just gets expensive

Yeah 6061 wouldn't bend well at all. 5053 should bend a few times but I think that tab as a bottle opener would probably part ways kinda fast. Certainly cuts nice though

Oh for sure; I hate drawing on the laptop so I took an already-small file and just adjusted my cut speeds (100ipm)

It needed to be small cause when Ryan was here, I was running my table quite a bit. Sofia even got to watch while she wore shade 7 goggles  anyway, I had a failed cut and didn't want to zero my table if I had cut a larger profile

I feel like once I've got speeds dialed in, I could give it a shot at trying to cut stuff in aluminum so I don't have to prep/paint. Some dude cut a battery bracket/holder recently and it came out really nice.

@treyus30 originally wanted aluminum, but instead decided on steel cause I told him I'm not confident in cutting aluminum. However, I might try his project on aluminum as an "extra".

    Thanks again @Kwikvette

They fit well but the bottom hole on the tail light side is occluded by a brace in the bedside, could move all three holes up a bit or just use the top two. The top two alone is likely plenty enough.

@Wulf @CS_AR Nothing broke on my trip, but I did start noticing a clicking noise when going over some obstacles towards the end, mostly when the front of the truck was settling down. I thought maybe this was evidence of a worn CV? They should only have 12k miles on them and they are OEM, however, so maybe it’s something in the rack and pinion.

    Absolutely!

    Yeah I'll do that then

Some trucks use that 3rd hole, and you and one person didn't

You think a small bracket on the backside and/or under the bed would add any additional support

Another member was asking and I only had a chance to check out the clearance from behind the tail light

    20230902_100307.jpg

Was wondering if I should even bother as really it'd just act like a "large washer" tying in the top two holes
