I used Toyota's website to search for allocated trucks with basically the same options - premium and advanced technology packages with manual transmission. One popped up at a somewhat local dealer and I called to put a deposit down. Truck had not even been built yet, but I was willing to wait since it was exactly what I wanted and since they were a smart path dealership all cost was up front, not a single penny more which was all MSRP. I hope you have similar or even better luck than I did and get exactly what you want too.

I don't have any complaints about RPM/torque/shifting either. Of course everybody that has an MT controls all of that themselves. We make that decision, not the ECU/TCU. Much more fun that way.

@BlueRibbonRM I think you are answering a question I was asking that I didnt know. There was a dealer locally that quoted me a price then tried to add 1500 in Nitrogen and damn paint protection for $1000. so.. SMART PATH.. sounds like I would be safe to buy from those if they are far away. Especially if I am buying plane tickets and then road tripping back with my son.

From my experience, and also understanding after loads of time reading about it, any smart path dealership has to stick to the costs they list on Toyota's website and can't add anything unless requested. They listed every fee they charge and even taxes so the number was spot on. I did not use their vehicle trade in calculator as my truck was worthless to a dealership and expected basically nothing for it anyway and handled all communications via phone and email with the dealership. By the time the day came to pick the truck up, everything was ready to go - had all financing approved and set in motion, as much paperwork as possible complete, and basically took less than an hour at the dealership before I was sitting in my new truck ready to drive off.

sounds like the dealership I went to is pretty big for Cleveland. Not sure if that matters. I had a deal completely done online from my phone last night. Showed up. Someone bought it a few hours before I saw it.. so I ordered one. I am guessing Ill give them a week to follow up with me. They said they would first check the national stock and see if they could trade for one. Then they will order it if not. I guess I sit back and wait. This is kind of a fun process. Hopefully I wont be saying "This is fun!" in 6 months from now. Im damn good at internet research so it is possible Ill find one locally and snag it. I came SO close yesterday.. Ive only been seriously looking for a day so far.

I suggest to keep searching using toyota.com and filtering what you want going within different zip codes and distances and if you find one that fits the bill try and put a deposit on it.

Hope things work out for you.

Would like to however thank you for making me feel better about my impulse decision to buy mine.

I litterally just stopped by my local dealer to "have a look" and ask a few questions. They just happened to have a M/T TRD Pro there that wasn't 3 days before when I drove by. A quick test drive and 20 mins later I bought it. Although thanks to recall still waiting to take ownership. Away for work for another 6 weeks so the delay is bearable.

Is buying in Canada an option for you? If my conversion was correct the truck you thought you bought was about $2k more than I paid for my TRD Pro.

97 Tacoma Barcelona red stick. Rode that to 2008 Tacoma access cab automatic to 312K. Missed the stick for every mile! Had to fly to Indy from RI to get my 2022 DC lunar rock off road stick paying sticker to boot. Will die w this one most likely. Don’t settle……get the stick

I know it’s loaded with a bunch of PIO but several are actually nice to have (bed mat, bed lights, all weather mats). Cincinnati isn’t far and they have several showing as no pre-sold on Toyota website. Maybe worth a call?

Am I missing something here. At current exchange rate this truck is $64k cdn. I paid $59k cdn after I added bed mat, bed led lights and remote/electric tailgate lock. Are US dealers hosing everyone?

Expand your search to include the PRO. The OR with bells and whistles is not far off (those are pro prices your shady dealer wanted).

:crapstorm:Those words are like a dog whistle to many who think the pro is overpriced... Not at straight MSRPs if you want features.)

Do the math. It worked for me. And the suspension is better that all other factory options - both on road and off.

Get a contract with all line items and put a deposit on that reference.

I did have buy overpriced bed lights, and wheel locks (both of which I would have added). And when I picked-up they had included a bunch of additional bits I had asked for to offser the added charge. They had originally declined to include, but I certainly left happier!

@BlueRibbonRM so it is possible I might be doing this exactly for 3TMCZ5AN5PM581416 driving 3 hours OR taking the bus for 4 hours and $21 dollars. (Oh wow that is going to be an adventure lol)

They are a smart path dealer. They have a weird 3000 dollar off reduction too. The interesting part is if you look at the Sticker it was SUPPOSED to be for the dealership one mile from my house. It also appears this truck was made in March of 2023?? Why did it move 3 hours away.. why was is supposed to be delivered to my local dealer??? I wonder if this has a bunch of miles on it or something else weird. Why is it discounted almost $3000?? something stinks.

I have officially changed back to Automatic. <-- Strange I read everyones posts and no one mentioned this. That is not a small deal. You are paying the same amount for the Premium package and getting a lot less. Maybe I will start looking at Pros too as @OZ TRD said (they are MSRP 45k)

I want the premium package and if I get Manual. I essentially pay the same thing but I LOSE these features.
    1. Remote start (doesnt exist in manual) I live in Cleveland IT gets cold.
    2. Keyless entry (not an option on M/T)
    3. JBL sound system. (Not an option on M/T I think because of the stick location)
    4. Push to start (I hear the keys are easy to scan so keyless entry is a risk. Dont care.. want it anyhow)

The price of the premium package on M/T vs A/T seems the same. ($3800)

See when I was at the dealer today I asked to see the inside of that truck I tried to buy.. they wouldnt let me "The keys were locked in the other sales guy's desk" <-- That is a line of bs. But if I bought a truck I wouldnt want some rando guy in it either. so I cannot blame them.

However if I WAS to have gone in that Manual Premium Offroad I would have noticed the Stereo AND the lack of push to start IMMEDIATELY. Oh well.

Good for you. I am a die hard manual guy (have three in my stable) but I didn't even consider buying Tacoma in manual. I wanted it to be an easy and relaxing experience when I drive a truck. Put it in D and off you go. You'll be happy with the auto.
