Hey now it’s been a bit on my posts but I’m thinking about swapping my 17 off-road trd inferno orange with are cap and Prinsu roof rack for a 4Oth anniversary edition Barcelona red

I’ve got 130k on my taco and its Been dealer maintained.

I noticed the tires on the 40th are kinda weak. I’ve run ko2 and at3 now. Also i know the 40th. Doesn’t have crawl modes and great shocks but I’m not doing much official off roading. And I live in snow country Vermont.

I have an extra set of rims with tires and me thinks the current set up will fit on the 23 4Runner. I’d plan to pull the roof rack too and sell sep.

Any thoughts? Am I stupid to drop a truck for an suv?

The truck is on great shape so I’ll check on the trade in value online too. Unless someone else has done a dealer swap.

I know this a Tacoma forum but we eye ball the other Toyotas.

thanks in advance for any insight.

If you don’t need a truck bed, the 4R is an excellent option.

Personally; if you were considering getting a different config, I’d get rid of 130k miles truck. I know it’s got plenty more miles left in it for sure, and I wouldn’t get rid of it based on miles alone.

If u get a great deal on the 4Runner I would go for it . No brainer new vs old ..plus the 4Runner has more room and u have factory warranty.

Depends… what are they giving you on the trade ? And what do they want for the new one ?
130k miles is no joke. Most of truck is starting to require some sort of refresh vs a brand new vehicle that can go 7 years before needing the same

As was said above if you don’t need a bed and the 4 runner is new I vote 4 runner.

I’ll just say I have a lot of friends nearby with Tacoma’s covered and open Beds.

    I appreciate ALL the responses.

I have both, and I love my 4Runner. It's the Limited with the full-time 4x4, which is nice for mixed road conditions. I love the visibility, lots of interior space, and honestly, I prefer the 5-speed transmission. The advantage of course for the Tacoma it's bed for big stuff and dirty stuff. If you don't really use the bed, the 4Runner is top quality, built in Japan, and will last a long time. My 2018 is still like new.

You said mahalo so I'm guessin you're on the Islands?
Don't know your situation as I just breezed through the posts.
I would only for 4 Runner if you need a totally enclosed vehicle.
Your Taco should be good for many more miles if you live in a warm place.
Plus there are many local repair places vs stealership since Taco is the unofficial vehicle of the Islands
I traded a perfectly good suv that I really liked for my Taco

Not in the islands. Far from em in New England - snow mountains area.

still floundering on it. Obviously both great rides. May have to loose the monthly payments which end in a few months and just ride out the taco. Which I do love.

We bought my wife a new 4Runner last year...It is a very nice vehicle - in fact I drove it yesterday, when we took a trip to visit our daughter...about a 5 hour round trip.

The 4Runner doesn't get driven a lot, my wife is a stay at home housewife - but my wife really enjoys it. It is great around our (horse) farm and it was nice on the trip as well. I think it seemed nice on the road - I rarely drive it - and I could certainly drive it every day.

My wife usually gets a new car every 3-5 years and I hinted yesterday - as we were driving - if she was ready for another car/truck. She said she really likes the car and is not interested in getting anything else right now. That says a lot. However on the other side of the coin...I am getting another car - as I put a lot of miles on a vehicle (I've put 250K on my 19 tacoma) and I'm, getting another Tacoma (23 Pro).

If you really want a 4 Runner I'd get one, though if you like the Tacoma - the 125K would not worry me at all. Good luck!
