stupid replacement solenoid isnt the right length and doesent fit. factory on top, replacement on the bottom. Anyone have a link to a replacement that actually fits that isn't a $250 each oem one ?



also, my transmission filter clearly wasnt doing a very good job lol. this is the top of the filter case, just cracked to shit. probably happened when i dented the shit out of the pan like, 8 years ago

 

I avoided paying the $250 oem price on my Land Cruiser by buying the solenoids from Isuzu since the same trans is used in their box trucks. Maybe there's one for a Jeep you can use since the AW4 is an A340? Isuzu OEM was literally the Aisin solenoid, gotta imagine Jeep probably does similarly. Also in an A340 there are two shapes of solenoid, did you just buy one instead of the whole kit?

This kit had good reviews on a couple forums and looks like it copies the OEM design rather than the generic Rostra ones that look like little cylinders.

I bought the kit that said it fit. but then rock auto admitted there was an issue and the kit was in fact incorrect so they are accepting the return.

I mean, we were just running the UTBDR. Looking for rock art in the Book Cliffs, and then Dino Bones (which there are none - what?!?) in Jurassic National Monument

 

Shoulda kept going north through the bookcliffs to Dinosaur National Monument, if you haven't been already

 

For you guys paying attention to spherical bearings -

The FKS10Ts that came in my foxes, with the oring misalignments, were tight after 2.5 years and 40k miles. They did a pretty amazing job and keeping dirt out, but there was definitely evidence of water intrusion. Guessing they wouldn't have lasted too much longer, but the orings are a clear improvement.

O ring misalignments?

You mean the o rngs tim sells? Or is this some fox thing?

 

It's how my foxes came, but I believe you can adapt them to others.

There's an oring the rod end either side of the bearing, and the misalingments have a step in them to seal.

Frick I need that o-ring setup. I need a set of bearings bad and will be ordering a set soon from Tim? Idk the guy on here that I know but can't remember his name embarrassingly.

I also blew a front coil resi hose from my a arm rubbing through... Ignorance cought up to me. Gotta get them out for a rebuild and new spheries. Fingers crossed that my lower bolts aren't totally rusted in. Had to cut them out and get new spacers last time!

although idk if he has that style of O ring misalignments. He does just send some O rings that go on the outside but am not sure it's the same setup.

Edit: Yes he does, just get the Fox ones.
