    As soon as low tension piston rings and VVT is added to an engine you want to change the oil more often, not less.

    I forgot for an entire year, once on my '01. At that time I was still under 10k yearly.
    The gasket on the filter didn't last that long. Had a big puddle of oil under the truck one day.

    I do mine every ~5k up to 6k. Is it needed, probably not. Is it a waste of money, maybe. Does it help my piece of mind on road trips, yup.

    More bs. Yeah if using a less known inexpensive dino oil, 10k mile oil changes in a lot of these engines will cause issues down the road. Use a well known synthetic like mobil 1, 10k oil changes are the norm for an everyday driver that puts on a lot of highway miles. I just wouldn't do 10k oil changes if a vehicle is used under severe conditions. We've done 10k mile synthetic oil changes on our prius since 2012...its got well over 100k today, and runs as new. Doesn't touch a drop of oil. I don't want to even start on my 2001 tundra that had 15k mile oil changes using the same brand synthetic.

    It's funny how it's a "proven" fact it will burn oil with 10k, then says he is has been a mechanic for 43 years. Technology has changed a lot in 43 years. He might be a mechanic, but he isn't a lubricant scientist.
