So I want to buy a 2023 Taco.

Are they all made in Mexico now? I read somewhere that some are made in Texas... how do I check which is made where?

    Thank you

You can tell by label which is put by driver's side door. When you open it, it will say where it is made.

You can also check VIN number, if it starts with 3 it was indeed made in Mexico. If it starts with 1,4,5 it was made In Texas ( used to be... ) From what I know yes, they are all made in Mexico now.

This does not necessary means they are bad, half of the Tacoma's has been built in Mexico since 2004 or something. Now its just all of them. 4runners thought.. Those bad boys are still built in Japan to this day.

Besides it is still most popular best selling pick up so..

Yes I believe they are all made in Mexico between two different plants.

Production moved to Mexico-only around 2021. It's the same truck regardless of where it is assembled. The parts all come from elsewhere and there's no correlation between where it is made and which ones have more issues as some have claimed.

Just understand that Taco is not soft. Its old truck with old transmission, and bit turtle engine. Base is 4cyl and SR5 is 3.5 V6 if you want bit more power.

All this is for reliability, other than that it looks sick, and drives like truck. Extremely simple interior and also comes in manual transmission if you want. If you are a big man you may feel bit squished inside.

Also new gen 2024 is out so you wanna decide, you want to buy 2023 one or wait few years and see how new gen does.

Took delivery of this yesterday. VIN starts with 3. Go for it, especially if you want the V6. Kept the Gen2 you can see behind, ETA this VIN starts with J.

Welcome and let us know what you decide.

Looks great! I placed an order on a white Trail Edition the other day and should arrive in mid November (like others already said, production is in Mexico). Now I'm on the fence if I should keep the deposit on the Gen 3 or wait and see how the Gen4 does.

No issues with my Mexico-built OR, other than a half-eaten burrito I found in the glovebox. That second half was delicious though!

I have a Gray TRD coming next week !!!

I'm not too keen on thr color, I prefer lighter colors like silver, but not "flakey white" .

Congrats! You going OR or Sport? 4x2 or 4x4? The gray one above is Lunar Rock. No matter what, you're gonna love it.

TRD OR 4x4=16 , I don't like Sport, might as well get SR5. The lunar rock comes in Sport only with my dealer.

This is mine, 2023 SR5 SX package. Cost me 38k without taxes etc. It comes with black alloy wheels, blacked lettering and a bed cover. 4X4 V6 automatic.

Sport is kinda lame, TRD is better because it comes with off road upgrades.. Sport is fancy but Tacoma is Tacoma and it will be still slow, sport or not.

SR5 does have upgrades, its few thousands more expensive but looks pretty. Or you could just get regular SR5 as you said.

Just look around and see what you like. There are so many videos, and people with so many photos of their Taco , especially on this forums.
