1999 Tacoma ext cab 4x4 is basically stock . Updated front with Monroe struts a couple years ago and rear leaf springs (to fix annoying axle wrap). Both from Rock Auto , not terribly expensive but not economy choice either. I did not do a lot of research on these parts beforehand and I think they are adequate . I rarely off road and when I do it's beach driving in OBX or a fire road in the Blue Ridge mountains.
Now that I have more time in retirement I'm putting it into this truck . I didn't even realize the front is slightly lower than rear . From fender flare tdc to the pavement the front measures 35" and rear is 35.75" . Both sides measure equally . Tires are Michelin 245 / 75 /R16

(option 1)I have seen advertised 1, 1.5 & 2" spacers that mount on top of strut .

or ( option 2) replacing the shocks with a Bilstein 5100 adjustable and hopefully re-use the Monroe coils since they aren't that old if that's possible.

I'm on a budget and I guess I could live with the 3/4" but now I can't unsee it ....lol

finally will I need to have realignment done with either modification ?

    any thoughts ?
    thanks

ps: I had posted earlier about local shop doing a $1400 lift and level ,but opted not to.

I just did the cheap top plate spacers on my son's truck. The front now sits 1" higher than the rear. I might do shackles in the rear to even it out?

It's supposed to have a bit of rake, for payload.

If you've only got 3/4" difference, I'd say that's perfect.

I am curious just when and why did the idea of a Pick Up Truck needing to sit level when empty come from??:anonymous:

I understand the concept your truck do what you will.:confused:

I think "It needs to sit level" has come from so many Double Cab Tacoma's have replaced minivans.

    interesting theory !

Then why not get a AWD Mini Van ?

Why a Truck if it never hauls anything? My Trucks Work that is why I bought them.

Just trying to under stand the reasons.

it does... with weight though, not suspension mods :p wayyy more comfy ride with weight back there. Usually when I p/u @Kwikvette 's mom, I make her ride in the back for that very reason

Some people prefer a level look though

The concept of the "Rake" is due to load. And to accommodate the masses.
If you never carry load than you don't need the rake. Manufactures add rake because the average "Joe" will never tinker with their suspension. So they add rake to accommodate for a fully loaded truck!
"Ideal" is to have your truck sit level. Good approach angle and good departure angle.
    Maybe a personal preference thing.
But I will always prefer a level truck over a "Nose dive" Or saggy A$$" truck.

But it's your truck just "Send it!!"

3/4" isn't bad. Before lift I was 1.5" higher in the back.
Lifted 2.5"F/1.5"R. To leave .5" rake.
I rarely haul anything so no need for 1.5" rake.
