    Up here, we've been warned about them and told of local sightings for years. I hunt extensively spring, fall and winter. I've never seen one, or any evidence, even a track. I would enjoy the ability to hunt them and put more meat in the freezer, but even if they do show up our government has made it illegal, saying that hunting them will make it harder to get rid of them. :canada:

    Yes indeed I can see where hunting them would increase the resistance to normal small arms fire causing even the 50 Cal BMG round to no longer be effective .

    Causing a Never ending escalation of Wild Hogs that even the nuclear option :nuclear: could not longer be effective .

    It was never the Apes it was the Hogs!!:anonymous:

    That is a lot of cool iron in one place! :101010:
    :jellydance::jellydance::jellydance:

    So what are you hauling home for a project? :boink:

    The 1956 Ford would be my choice -- although the 1949-51 GMC would be cool too.
    The Chevs of the era were called "Advance Design" trucks, GMC called their line "New Design" although most folks just call them Advance Design.

    ... On the other hand -- how cool would it be to have your own street sweeper -- and how useless too... :laugh:

    Cool has trumped smart many times for me over the years. :crazy::crazy:

    It only counts if you’re still in Mississippi. In which case, you’ll be thrown out shortly…

    Southpaw too… read Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew and another similar series. Agatha Christie and many many more. I devoured mysteries, classic fiction, encyclopedias, etc. I was the kid who was front and center for every adventure and project. I made spare change rebuilding carburetors, alternators, and starters.

    I installed CB radios and buffed people's cars for several years between 12-17 years old.
    How are there so many left handed heavy reading misfits in this thread? Seriously, left handed is like 1:12, readers are like 1:10, shop guys are like 1:5. Those are weak odds to get together by chance.

    In most of life I'm a little, kind of, pretty, exceptionally boring - always play the long game & make practical, value oriented choices. :yawn:

    Until...

    I come across some rusty pile of junk that will do nothing except leak oil on the garage floor

    It definitely is. Couple thousand acres around there.

    :oldglory::oldglory:

    Definitely a lot of cool things lurking around there.
    No projects being hauled home for me. Haha

    My dad recalls riding in the ford truck as a little kid. Chained up on all four corners it would just go in the snow. Not very fast but couldn’t stop it.

    The street sweeper is very cool. I really liked the dual steering wheels and pedal setup for driving from either side.
    There is actually 2 street sweepers. The other one is quite a bit newer.

    Thank you @RustyGreen for your knowledge on all things old. I enjoy hearing your take on things of the past. :thumbsup: I will have to make another trip up to go to the other field and get some more pictures.

    That is the first year (1967) of the new "Action Line" trucks from Chev/GMC.
    The tells are the lack of a side marker light on the front fender, 1968 law required them front & rear and also the standard small back window.

    For 1968 all light duty trucks got the "full-view" rear window as standard, larger medium duty models, C40 and above retained the small window as standard with the full-view optional.

    The yellow color and step bed suggest that the truck started life out as a highway/utility/railroad truck. The step bed was common for these applications as it reduced the amount of overloading. A Fleetside/Wideside bed has considerably more volume available therefore could hold a lot more gravel or dirt.

    In my youth I read a great deal -- about machines mostly. :rolleyes: Popular Mechanics, Mechanics Illustrated, Car & Driver.

    My mothers entire family was left handed and I sometimes find my left to be the "smarter" hand for doing a task.

    I write (poorly) with my right hand, my handwriting is and always has been horrible, at one time it was common in elementary schools to "correct" children who held a pencil in the "wrong" (aka: left) hand, I have often suspected I was victim of that style of teaching.
