So, rumor has it, the HTC Thunderbolt will be released tomorrow. My account is due for an upgrade, so I am wondering your thoughts on upgrading to this phone or waiting to see what other 4G Android phones Verizon is releasing.

I am not interested in an iPhone. I have an iPod touch and find navigating through apples software cumbersome compared to my current Android phone (HTC Incredible). I think that is mainly due to having the Menu, Home and Back buttons always available.

So, is anyone aware of future Android 4G phones being released in the near future that would be worth holding out for, or should I go for the Thunderbolt?

Incredible 2, Droid 3, Droid x2, and the Bionic. Bionic later this year but is supposed to be really hot. Incredible 2 shall be very soon as they have already begun phasing out the original one. oh and a motorola targa, don't know if it's vzw specific, and there's the sony xperia play.

my bad, droid 3 and x2 aren't lte.

I am in the process of ordering one now. From what I hear. it's pretty bad-ass. My techie nerd friends say the bionic is the way to go, but I dont want to wait. My friend hs the evo which essentially the same phone as the tbolt, and he loves it.

the only thing about the thunderbolt, is how much they are hyping up "4G" which is only in SOME of the major cities, look it up on a verizon map. so that is usless until it takes off, for now, im just going with the Droid X. with my upgrade it will be 150 bucks.

With the Thunderbolt, you also get free mobile hotspot for a limited time. Just looked at some here at work. ( I sell cell phones) Seems pretty cool, it's heavier than you would think, because of all the 4G stuff in it I guess

Got mine today. Loveing it. Bit of an upgrade from the Droid X. I so much prefer the Sense UI to the Motoblur. Plus it does simultaneous voice and data even on 3G--a first for Verizon. Its much snappier than my DX was. So far so good.

I got my TB last Thursday when it came out. It's had shitty battery life(only about 7 hours) up until Sunday. I got 12+ hours on one charge Sunday with the phone being used moderately and on the 4G network all day long. Surprisingly good battery life after 5 or 6 full charges.

    It's 4G speeds from speedtest.net are:

    Download: 31.95 mbps
    Upload: 20.04 mbps

That's 10 times faster than my Comcast speeds on my laptop. . . This phone is AMAZING.

Good to know the battery is getting better. That was one of my main concerns. Those speeds are unbelievable! My Thunderbolt will be here tomorrow, looking forward to it!

what is "needs to be charged" down to 50%? 40%? 15%?

if you have news, weather, and other stuff you dont need to be on autosync turn it off, i have my email to sync all day, i work from 9-6 and even with web browsing and texting, i came in yesterday fully charged left work got home with 40% battery still left, but i am running on wifi also.

you might want to give juice defender a try as well. if not wait a week or so im sure the guys over at unrevoked will have a easier root process down and by then roms and kernals will be coming out which will improve battery life for sure!
