Yah, I'm surprised her car didn't come with a dialing wand as standard.

In hindsight the Miami show probably isn’t the venue that Toyota should’ve used to show that particular base TRD interior. Nothing inside flatters it at all. And breaking news, apparently if you want to vent the rear window, you’ll have to pay Toyota more $$. Hope that’s a mistake.

in hindsight, they should’ve displayed one of those Pro’s, and kept people’s attention the Hyrdodynamic shock seats and not the 6ft screen they failed to integrate into the dash.

But, as always, it all comes down to how much $$. If that base interior sucks b/c Toyota can keep us under 40k for a base TRD OR, then a lot can be forgiven.

I think if the people in this thread got a Tacoma designed 100% exactly like they wanted, it'd be a $400k truck. Yall be picky lol.

No need it is already done, just can’t get it here. AUS to USD it would be a smidge under $35K.

I would assume that the OR also comes in "+" and "Premium" packages. Wonder why their not shown here?

Not really. Toyota needs to focus on useful design items. Don’t take away the rear window but add a portable speaker and seats with shocks.

Also the design is getting close to looking modded out off the lot. Honda rice rocket style. Fully admitting I may be aging out of the Tacoma line, but while most makers are going modern, simple, sleek and functional, Toyota trucks are getting kind of theatrical. Also don’t like this hexagon design obsession.

I see a button for the sway bar in this photo.
What do you guys think about all the buttons and knobs here? It seems too easy to bump or spill stuff on to me. Why not put it on the dash or ceiling like before and the 4Runner?

It is definitely adult child boy racer styling. It is called Hex design. Long time Lexus owners have been complaining on how ridiculous the grills have become, Toyota basically told them to go pound sand, said they aren’t changing the design language anytime real soon.

These Landcruiser renders aren’t terrible, bit space age looking but they also aren’t as wild as the Tacoma. You can see where the design evolved from for the Taco.

I'd personally, probably along with millions of others, would prefer a comfortable seat over a power rear window, or window with slider even. We can agree the speaker is dumb though..

It was obviously halfway a joke, but I think if everyone got what they wanted, the truck would be upwards of new diesel prices. Can't make everybody happy though, and they sell millions of trucks, so it seems like they're doing something right, even when we say they aren't. The general public will think its groundbreaking and buy the crap out of it. They control the design market, not us "enthusiasts."

Now what would actually be really cool, is if Toyota delved into the 1990's Nissan business model, making "TRD" not just a sticker, but an entire line of "OEM" aftermarket-like JDM performance/aero parts; think NISMO. They already do this with things like TRD wheels and skid plates. It'd be cool to just build a "good enough" line of base truck trims, and let people spec out their build with TRD special parts (like the shock seats for example). Its obviously not a very good money maker though. Would be cool for "TRD" to be special though, like it probably used to be.
