I've noticed on long distance drives EV's tend to disappear on certain stretches of road. Occasionally I'll see a model x, but they're going slower than everyone else trying to maximize their miles per charge. I have a family member who believes it'll become the opposite in the future with fewer and fewer gas stations in between destinations and more and more charging stations.

As an owner of a Rivian and a Tacoma, and with intimate knowledge of the validation testing that was done, I can tell you the Rivian passed the lifetime salt spray validation test with flying colors. There was surface corrosion on the usual areas but physical structure and electrical joints were sound. Vehicle still drove and battery sealing integrity and ecoat held up. With all the 2nd gen frame rust issues, I am almost certain the 2nd gen Tacomas were not subject to as harsh of salt spray lifetime testing. Additionally, the high voltage system does real time electrical isolation tests to see of sealing integrity of the battery and powertrain system have been compromised. This was especially important for water fording testing, which it is also rated for, which my Tacoma would not survive without hydrolocking.

A friend that owns a large construction company just called me another jeep Cherokee diesel he bought a couple of years ago has died. He told me he's had it he's going to replace all his vehicles with Tacoma's. ...... Just saying..... I've been driving Tacoma for more then 15 years now no regrets

So I’m basically on the verge of swapping my 2010 DCTRD for a Rivian R1S. Reliability, gotta have AWD for snow and trails, and I want something more comfortable than a camper shell for my aging dogs.

Do any of you engineering types and EV enthusiasts know if it will be possible to swap a Lithium Ion battery out for a Solid State battery as those become available in a few years?

No, that will be very unlikely to be an option in the future.
