    Here is what I did.
    I used the search button.
found out that Troy Dietrich at Greenfield toyota does good quotes. I called him.
Told my local dealer to meet it or loose the sale.
The warranties are priced differently around the US, so some regions pay more, however any Toyota Dealer can sell a warranty to anyone.

    Remember search is your friend.
    I got 8/125k for 1250 or 1450 i think.

Dont know about the best place, but I can almost guarantee I probably paid too much, lol. I also got the gap insurance, so I probably threw away a lot of mad mod money. blah.

Gap insurance is not such a bad idea, especially if you can cancel it once you owe less than you'd get if the truck were to get totalled.

I made a few huge payments right off the bat and cancelled my gap insurance after only 3 months. Got most of my $435 back.

OP, I paid $1275 for 8 years / 75 000 miles. Hope you can do better. (The dealer sort of had their way with me on that one...)

Bank the money! Extended warranties are a waste of money. Especially on a quality vehicle.

You are better off with the money in the bank & draw from it only if you need repairs. Then after the "extended warranty period would have ended", you have $1600 in the bank to use for whatever.

My 05 Tacoma has 171,000 miles & if I would have wasted $1600 on an extended, I would have lost $1600. I didn't have any repairs till after 120,000 miles & it was a $79 U-joint that went bad.

Be aware the warranty only covers things that BREAK.. in other words, if your truck still runs, its not broken according to the conversation i had with them Saturday. TSBs are not covered unless the part is physically broken, no matter how poorly it functions.

sounds like you have a shitty dealer. I had a bad U joint and they fixed it, it wasnt broken but was in the process of breaking...

TSB's fix common known issues with our trucks. I have the tsb for the rear leaf springs done and all I said was that my truck bottomed out when I had my 4 wheeler loaded up...
all your truck has to do is show the symptoms described by the TSB for it to be fixed.
But TSB's are also only covered for the first 3 years/ 36,000 miles

Yes exactly my point.. TSBs will not be covered under the Platinum warranty
(topic of the thread). They are only covered under the factory warranty.

How so? this thread is about the extended warranty.. therefore that is what I was referring to, and according to the local dealership, the certified platinum people and toyota experience center; under the extended warranty, the part hast to be physically broken to be covered.

Just trying to give the OP a heads up. But I'm all ears if you know otherwise with the Platinum plan, I would really like the issues fixed with my truck, but since it runs according to the people involved its not covered.

I saw statistics on extended warranties awhile ago. They end up making money on 90% of them, breaking even on 8%, and losing money on 2%.

What does that tell you? Still think they're wise investments? They wouldn't sell them if they didn't MAKE money on them.

And its only good until the 75k mark? So having a warranty for an extra 39k miles is worth over $1000 to you? Its crazy IMO.

Depends on which one ya pay for, the more you pay the longer they "last" i think the longest is 7yrs and 100k mi

Ill never gamble when there is a 90% chance ill lose money. This is exactly what you're doing, but to each his own. Good luck to whoever buys one.

I had an extended warranty years ago on a Camaro. It went in twice for repairs and the cost was close to 4k...cost me nothing. Now i know Toyotas are better vehicles but you never know. 1 repair will cover the warranty cost. It is a piece of mind thing for me, just looking to see who has the best deal.

8yr 125k is the longest so 65k past your original 60k powertrain.
you have up to 3/36k to purchase & are transferrable.
you can also cash it in or cancel within 30 days of buying if the F&I guy/toyota charged you over $700 (the price you can get them for from other toyota dealers like Troy).
    Here is the brochure
fwiw I bought mine from troy right before my 3/36 expired due to problems with my truck. It was the first one ever purchased on a toyota vehicle ever. I have already used it for a $500 repair. The warranty cost $880 through Troy. Truck has 57k. My waranty is up to 100k. So yes some have trouble free trucks. Mine was not. The 4wd acuator is acting up again so I expect another visit within the next year or so. It was already replaced during the 3/36 at $500 toyota's dime. If I sell the truck outright, I can pass it on or cash it in.

I have never needed one on any vehicle I have purchased. Some justify them by saying "I had a $xxx dollar repair and it cost me nothing". First off you just pre-paid for it. It did cost you something. Second the repair would have cost significantly less at an independent shop. No question about it. You could have also probably fixed it yourself for even less. So don't forget to factor that in when you are justifying it.

If you are having issues or have had issue buy it from Troy. If you cannot sleep at night or need Xanax simply to get that precious "peace of mind" Maybe the Xanax would be less expensive.

If a $1000 repair Bill will cause a catastrophe for you financially you may break even.....either way you are down $1000.

Decide the difference between inconvenience and catastrophe in your life and buy the insurance to prevent the latter. With Service Contracts. (and that is what they are. You won't see the words "Warranty" on any legal paperwork regarding the purchase of one.

They sell them as "Extended Warranties" verbally because warranty sounds all fuzzy and "comforting" but really it is a contract for service of items they deem BROKE DOWN...not you.
