Who know how long they'll last. If you keep it up with proper maintenance and nobody smashed into you, they'll just keep running and running. Eventually the real expensive items will wear out (motor, trans, etc.) and you'll hafta decide if it's worth putting more money into it. I would consider keeping it until it gives up the ghost. May not be for another few 100K miles.

You can hide some rust with “under coating”
$8700 for a first gen with 300k miles is ridiculous

pass, buy a 2nd gen for the same money, half the miles and twice as much space.

I would be in the $2500 to $3000 range at most. If they can get anything close to $8700 more power to them but it would not be me buying it for that price.

~132psi per cylinder according to post? IIRC, they're supposed to be in the 170ish range

First of all your in cali .....not only is that but the most expensive part of it...its in the most expensive state..........you know the one thats got the max exodus going on...

so it is what it is.........probably not that many choices either......unless shot....or priced way way too much....

ONly way it would be worth that to any of us out here....would be if its mostly long commuting highway miles...

Good compression....and not an oil burner.....

These are just plain expensive to own....they always need something....

    very good for DIY'rs......

    I’ve seen a couple 5VZ’s with over 400k.
Never seen one with 500k+. But that’s not to say there aren’t any.

That too much for that truck in my opinion. I’d have to pass.
I couldn’t even make them an offer. I’d feel like I were insulting.

I never have that problem I just say what I would be willing to pay.

I can not fault anyone trying to get top dollar . So why be insulted with people being honest.

Rust free examples will go for that regardless of miles, especially out on the west coast. I don't see high miles as a problem necessarily; in fact, it may even be a positive if the truck was driven frequently on highway trips. You could get one with 80,000 miles and have it throw a rod the next day. Cars don't like to sit. With the age of these trucks, we're buying the condition, not the miles.

I would treat the truck as if you were gonna have to put new heads on it...

So that's another $4~$5K.......so add that to what ever price you agree on.....

    with 325k on it....dont think that's a stretch...

East Coast people so many Have no idea Just How much mileage you run up out west

100 miles one way to shop at Kmart or Radio Shack .

Date a Girl up the valley 60 miles

In Texas lets go see this really good band 3 or 4 hours away.

No comments on the driving to rodeos ride in one jump in the truck drive to the next one 300 miles away .

300,000 in a few years quite possible.

So many odometers on the second go round.

    Many years ago.

Almost 500k miles on my 5VZ and it's still goin strong so I wouldn't let the mileage scare you if its been maintained. But I wouldn't pay that price.

There's no such thing as a "Short" drive in the state of Texas. Just driving across the state from East to West is quite a drive. Believe me, Ive done it more than once.

For reference I could only get $4500 for a 3rd gen 4runner Limited with 325k that I completely overhauled. Non 4x4 though

That is on edge of ridiculous

    OP
As far as ‘over the hill’ Q
I would def say no….lots of life left

But the price too high to maintain 23yr old vehicle with 328k properly

    IMG_3401.jpg IMG_3402.jpg OMG gents

1st of all, had to go to ‘classic’ database
This does not even take into consideration mileage for value
So 100k and 500k miles gets same value

Truck in question LOWER asking price than LOW retail value
    WTF?
    Incredible
    Bc CA???

    seller must be insurance adjuster
