Well quoted myself from the Hot Wheels thread. I figured it out.
I used a small screw driver between the tire and rim and released the whole outer edge. This allowed me to see inside and realize there are 4 "humps" to the rim. It was then a matter of carefully prying and squeezing the tires without bending the axles. It was just a matter of some serious finger pressure to put the new tires back on. I detest black rims and thought about painting them but I just went with some gold highlights on the tire lettering. It's not perfect but it looks good on the shelf.

 

This is the before.. the gold tires were too much for me personally.

 

I saw that fire truck today, decided against it due to the gold overload lol your customization makes it look way better

 

Would have been so much better with gold rims and black tires to start with!

Thrift World is apparently similar to Goodwill store or something. Slight detour on the way home brought me to the place just before closing time. This is what I saw upon arrival.



I don't have room for all the tiny trucks I have let alone big trucks. I picked a few in the right size.



I don't know who makes the ones on the black bases, bit the one without is a Corgi.
