It’s certainly not snake oil. Been using it in aircraft tires for nearly 40 years. Those that think it’s not beneficial are just unaware

I check them cold and keep them 30 rear 32 front. Generally I don't like them getting above 35 warm. As long as they're between 30-35. I'm good.
Wisconsin weather can be 40 in the morning and 80 by the afternoon. I always come into the one side being heavier lighter than the other.
The direction I park at work(sun/wind) and a little draft coming in the garage door, in winter, starts out low on passenger side but always comes back to when warm.
Again, as long as I stay between 30-35 I don't sweat it.

There's benefits, but they're fringe at best. Regular air is around 78% nitrogen to begin with. It doesn't improve gas mileage or smooth out the ride at all. The only real benefit is that you'll lose around 1.3 fewer PSI per year than regular air. Even when you put nitrogen in, you're not going to be at 100% nitrogen either.

As someone who has run both, the benefits are not enough to warrant paying for nitrogen over regular air.

Its good, but not practical. -Planes do not air down often...

Or sensible, if you have to pay the silly prices often seen...

It was 95-99 here this past weekend. Attached is my record low. Daily tire pressure flux happens. Seasonal changes will drive you nuts and requires checking. I always check in the AM after sitting in the shed all night. And compare again before I leave work. Idk but no matter the vehicle my front passenger side always goes lower. 8FE6FB29-93FE-471B-A74F-B43C99634AE0.jpg

It is not exactly snake oil, but pretty close. The air we breathe is roughly 78% nitrogen and 21% oxygen along with some other elements and the big problem water vapor. The benefit to pure nitrogen is that it doesn't expand and shrink as much as the other elements and compounds. The challenge is that if you inflate a tire with nitrogen, you still have atmospheric air inside the tire when you inflate it. Most shops that push the nitrogen have cars leaving with 75% atmospheric air so it is a bit of a scam in several ways.

I use it because the air doesn't fluctuate like regular air which keeps the tpm light out. That is about the only good thing its for.

    Huh?
Are you saying that your typical pressure is so low that the daily variations throw off the warning (light goes on)?

If this is not the case, how then does nitrogen keep the 'light out'?

As I understand it nitrogen is much more stable and doesn't deviate pressure wise upon cold conditions therefore
the system wouldn't need to engage a low pressure warning.

Trick is of course how to get 100% nitro in there.

Original question from me was how far off ( by number or percentage ) does a tire have to deviate
for one to worry and stop for air in an offending tire.... 3 pounds?... 5 pounds?... 20%?.... etc

I know 1-2-3 pounds isn't that big of a deal but when I was riding motorcycles 2-3 pounds could make a big difference in performance and safety.
