Don’t do that. Just ignore the comments. It’s like anything just takes practice. You will get it.
What looks hard to me is when they have the bike at the balance point and drop back a bit HOW THE HELL DO YOU HANG ON! I think everyone’s natural reaction is to drop your feet to catch yourself. Maybe put your left foot on the rear peg to help??

Don’t think there is any hostile attitudes. Just a bunch of keyboard warriors! I can’t wheelie but the YouTube videos I have watched all say how important it is to cover the rear brake.
Get that brake fixed and get a 12 o’clock bar and be safe out there! As much as it hurts seeing the little Grom looping it’s still entertaining to watch!

idk I mean dont have such thin skin, especially at the rate youre falling at (hehehe) - but anyway, is it out of the realm of possibility that someone swerves or does something wonky while they're trying to text and operate a car, because someone keeps falling at failed hooligan attempts in the middle of street?

Yeah, I do. But if one calls to ask to use the course (over here that is) then they will suspect that you really just wanna practice for the skills test. And ya probably don’t wanna tell them that you really just wanna hoon around on their property either…

The MSF around here actually uses a big, usually empty parking lot on my companies property. Unless you get someones attention enough to get the rent-a-cops called on you it's open all the time to come mess around at. They even have a bunch of lines and stuff drawn to follow for low speed turning, etc.

My friend did tell me that hooking my left foot under the peg slider could help but that also feels unnatural so I'm just working on rear brake drills and not getting greedy with trying to ride them out so far.

Explain to me how a dead end street with almost no traffic puts me or someone else in danger?

From the sounds of it, no one here can actually balance point wheelie successfully so maybe coming here for advice was my fault.

I can balance point “wheelie” on a skateboard. Does that count??

Jokes aside. The brake drills are a solid idea. Breaking the whole thing down into individual mini skills to build muscle memory will get you there. Just keep at it. Grassy field would still be better, but I get that you gotta work with what ya got :)

That made me laugh. I was thinking you worked for some asphalt company or something with lots of storage space, not the largest airplane manufacturer in the world. Yes, do whoolies in the Boeing parking lot

Beat me to it - really digging the trophy version you shared. BMW is giving me a reason to trade my 1200…

Hit a few famous routes Labor Day weekend - BRP, Tail of the Dragon, Moonshiners 28 and the Cherohala Skyway. IMG_4251.jpgIMG_4416.jpg IMG_4414.jpg

The MSF I used has their lines painted in a Community College parking lot. I'd go there after hours and use their lot when I was first getting into street riding to practice more. I also used the road and range area at the high school down the street that was totally unattended most out of school hours.

Was pretty common on the latter to see people teaching new riders how to putz around a parking lot, teach their kid how to drive stick, or even how to hoon donuts once the snow fell. :burnrubber:

It was at the Linn Cove Viaduct on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Pretty awesome engineering project back in the early 90s.
Highly recommend the Cherohala Skyway if you’re ever near the Tail. Awesome views/twisties with no where near the traffic of the Tail.

Cherohala is awesome as is BRP. Dragon has gotten so hyped that I don't care if I don't go back. The Snake is fun and a real good one is the Back of the Dragon in VA. Both of those are longer but have some nice technical sections interspersed with more spread out stuff. Friend of mine had some of his ashes spread at one of the overlooks on Cherohala after his passing.
