Hello fellow Tacoma owners, or Users...
I'm looking for any advice on how to connect an electrical malfunction or mess that was made trying to upgrade my 2005 Tacoma ....let's just say that the person doing the installation didn't have a clue of what he was doing and completely messed up the wiring cables, i was able to get some things to function again but my turning blinkers don't work, my AC turns on but blows no cold air, my backing aftermarket camera doesn't work, reverse lights don't work either and lastly the Aftermarket stereo doesn't have sound, the airbag light is on dashboard, also check engine dashboard light. OBD scanner reads electrical malfunction. I managed to get it to power, and also managed to have the defroster working again, because it didn't work after he laid hand on my vehicle. PLEASE tell me it's useless or that it might not be a cheap repair.... I'm a single parent with kids, just recently went through VD and don't have money to fix it.

Was it a shop/business or a private individual?

either way, you’re taking it to a shop that is capable of fixing it and forking over a lot of money. Electrical diagnoses and repairs aren’t cheap because not everyone know what they’re doing.

if it was a private individual, you’re probably screwed. If it was a professional shop or business, you may be less screwed in the long run.

you’ll basically need to get the repairs done, and send a copy of the invoice/bill to them and say “hey you need to pay for this”
They may say ok and cut a check. They may say no. If they say no, your main option is to sue them for the money and damages.

    Your welcome.
The stereo should be pretty simple I’ve done it on my 08.
Maybe starting from scratch on the wiring behind stereo.
Didn’t need to cut or tap any wires on mine.
They make kits that adapt so it’s plug and play.
Actually I think I had to connect wires from stereo to new plug that connected to factory plug?

I will definitely tell you what I know or what I did.
The adapter plug kit should have wires to match the of the stereo. Certain stuff may not be available on stereo’s due to being an older model.
Most of the panels just use clips and pop off. Many videos on the internet about installing a stereo.
You just have to look at what the last person did. Hopefully they didn’t cut and splice a bunch wires.
Having someone like bestbuy reinstall it may be a decent option pending what’s been done.

The last pins are the original stereo connectors but they were cancelled when the pioneer stereo was installed, so the person tried to use the same pioneer connections like it was , just matched the color wires to his best, even though it had more more wires to it that's why he got confused and lost track of which cable was for what ..

    sorry to hear.

generally, that many errors is indicative of either drilling through/cutting a main wiring harness, blowing multiple fuses, unplugging a module somewhere, or disconnecting ground wires.

you can try to post pictures, and we can try to help, but really it's something that would be better handled in person by someone that knows what they're doing.

if it helps at all, i'm on the indiana side of chicagoland, and would have some time to take a look this weekend if you're in this area

So the new stereo install was the cause of all these problems?

YES SIR!.. And it wasn't even installed correctly, it still has no audio! But my biggest concern are the turning blinkers and reverse lights not working :(
