I wanted to post a quick install follow up here! @Puppypunter makes a great product, some would say better than factory wiring.

Here are some photos from the install and finished wiring. Difficulty: 4/10.

Starting with the fuse tap, I was unable to feed the wire into the fuse board due to the taping of the wires underneath coming from the engine. I ended up drilling a small hole and feeding the wire through. Just made sure to use as small of hole as possible as well as an area of fuse board that was unused/never to be used. The fuse tap itself was simple. I ran the red tap wire alongside the engine bay exterior and zip tied this in place with another cable/wire. Installing the resistor was simple as well, the hardware was perfect and this seems like the best spot to place it. The wire for the headlight connection between the two was easy as well. I took the trim piece behind the grill off using 4 pop tabs and hid the wire under there. I still need to tidy that up so it’s not sitting on top of the radiator. For the harness, as simple as it gets! I also used @Firn OEM LED tab repair kit for the top two tabs on each headlight as pictured - worked great!

Thanks! This is the trial run for a new version of the SR to OEM LED headlight conversion harnesses. @Churley12 was brave enough to volunteer, so I will start making these too soon!

I am not an OEM LED wiring expert like yourself, so I cannot verify the work, but great to see a contributing first post. :)

@OscarWildwood here are two photos post install (during the day). Daytime DRLs are super impressive and nighttime driving has been a game changer. Then again, I am coming from a 2011 F150 lariat with basically two flashlights for headlights…. IMG_0272.jpgIMG_0271.jpg

To add to the conversation, this was a budget upgrade. Headlights were purchased from FB marketplace and eBay with broken tabs and minor scuffs (was able to buff out). Tabs were fixed with @Firn led repair kit via eBay. Total installed cost was under $500.

How does this version of the harness differ from the previous version?

You are still making those? That’s awesome. I ended up buying a set you sold to another member on here that he didn’t install, complete with the headlights. I’ve had them installed for a year now with no issues. Keep up the the great work and thanks!

This version uses a fuse tap to drive the DRL circuit. So the DRL are always on when the truck is. They still dim with the low beams though. They wouldn’t dim with the fog lights though, I just found out yesterday that was a thing. Everything is still pretty plug and play, but there is one wire that need to be ran into the fuse box under the hood. Also, this versions requires that you disable the DRL. This can be done via the stereo, but your truck has to have the auto low beams (so it says AUTO on the stalk, not DRL) and not be Canadian. The main difference is going to be price. I am shooting for $100 shipped with these as they only use 1 relay, no timers, and no resistors which are a good portion of the cost of the other version. But I need to sit down and make a small batch first to get a good idea of the time it takes.
Yeah, I’m back to it. Had a few months off from a shoulder surgery. Glad to hear your set is working out :)

Not of this version. I’ll probably make a few over this weekend, see how they sale, and go from there.

Through the TW buy/sell/trade section. @daveeasa is the one who runs the site, and he doesn’t like dealing with the SR conversion stuff :p
