And at the end of the day - it was a complete freak accident. I had my own recently where a section that has been cleared numerous times before decides to get a little extra spicy. I get why some of the older guys I ride with prefer flow trails over technical runs.

Thankfully my wife didn't kill me and doesn't give me much sass when I go out for a ride now. Maybe I should be like the elders and take up pickle ball :anonymous:

    Feel like a barometer sometimes?

I can feel a storm rolling in a day out in my knees. And wrists. And back. And neck.

Not too bad actually, but I pop and crack like an old wooden chair sometimes.

Both knees are bone on bone so the ortho recommended knee replacements for both. I bought a couple of new bikes instead. I've had to change the riding style a little bit. Easier gears, no big drops to flat, and generally be more conservative which is ok with me. Been there, done that.

I did get some new wheels on the SB100 yesterday. Berd Hawk 30 with their Talon hubs.

It was a compression break. Fortunately, it pretty much set itself. They just put a cast on me and sent me on my way. They said they normally need to pull that kind of break apart and use plates and pins but I got lucky. 4 weeks with a cast, 2 weeks with a splint, we'll see how fast i can get through it. They said don't push it for 4 weeks, that time is really needed to set the bone and avoid surgery, then I can start using it again. Not gonna lie, I did look up recumbent bikes as an alternative for the next month and a half... I really don't want one but if it keeps me pedaling, i may consider it.

    not enough.
lol. I used to feel like that and then I picked up biking more. then those pains went away. I can still feel a dull something in my hips during weather changes but generally, gone-so's. The winters are brutal though, because my muscles atrophy and the pain comes back. :/

definitely hit some physical therapy! I'm lucky that I have a couple cycling/running specific PTs near me that are really good. My GF broke her wrist a while back and still has issues on occasion. Definitely doesn't have much mobility in the broken wrist.

Oh man, what a bummer! Join the club!
Did they say you would be back on the bike after the splint came off? We obviously had different injuries, but I'd be surprised if you are cleared for biking (bone strength wise) or have the mobility/strength for biking after 6 weeks of your wrist being immobilized. My advise is to take it slow and listen to your body and your medical professionals. I had to have surgery but that actually speeds up the process to a degree because the fracture is more stable initially. So I went right to a removable brace (a week after surgery) and had that for 6 weeks but was able to start range of motion exercises then. Then it's 6 weeks of PT. I think my surgeon said I could probably bike 4 months post op.

So again, I hope yours is quicker, just don't let unrealistic expectations shortcut your necessary recovery time.

4?! Even split left to right? I sure hope I don't ever have to do this again haha! And I agree about the PT! So critical to proper healing and future performance!

Well... they said weight bearing in 6 weeks. I'm hoping that means i can at least be on the gravel bike on pavement, but that could be the optimist in me.
