That’s a good one! Glad you were able to get it out. Any of the other ones give you problems?

Good morning guys :hattip: Have a great Friday!

Going to give the dealership where I bought the truck from (not my local one) a call this morning and see if they will work with me on the master cylinder. I know the truck is out of warranty based on time but it’s only got 18,600 on the odometer, that master cylinder shouldn’t have failed like this.

I suppose a rebuild kit would be out of the question seein’ it takes You, Me & a Philadelphia Lawyer to figured out how to bleed ‘em.

Good Luck  18.6 K miles, it should be a no brainer, but who knows...Don't forget to mention the recall for the next MY.

No rebuild kits exist, you can’t even get just the master cylinder, only the complete assembly with the ABS servo and manifold.

Thanks, I will be pushing that old recall hard.

That's exactly the problem. The wheels DON'T come off. Even when you NEED them to!

Jeez, I'd have almost tacked a socket to that to get it out with how gnarled that looks.

They will not warranty it since, as you previously stated, it is out of warranty. They may do a goodwill repair or cover the labor but not the part, or cover the part but not the labor. But asking for some goodwill may net some positive results. I would say something to the effect of "I know it is out of warranty but this part should not have failed on a vehicle with almost 19000 miles on it. Is there any chance of a goodwill repair?" Chances are the first person you talk to will not be able to help you as that type of decision will be above their pay grade and you will be bumped up to the manager. If the first answer is no then I would thank the person and ask if it was possible to speak to the service manager, general manager or owner of the dealership. And keep in mind if the final answer at the dealership is a no then politely ask for the regional rep for Toyota so you can give them a call. My two cents, which is precisely what this advice is worth!

    Shop did it.

But seeing it did answer a few questions I had, like how rusted in were they and how much does the extractor need to bite before it comes loose.

As far as I'm aware, because it's not my problem to worry about yet, she hasn't ordered the new bolts. Until she does, I'm not touching it.

Niece just sent me a text that the bolts have been ordered. Just in time for me to get them all changed before she leaves for Kentucky.

    Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly!

Pretty nice office today. It's a lovely 64 degrees and I'm wandering around campus looking at 90 some transformers.
