That's the basic setup. Some things are different.

I don't think it is bad gas. It has been run around and runs perfectly fine. If it was bad gas, the problem would be all the time. After about 2 minutes of idling, that's when the rpm drops to around 400 and starts misfiring. So it starts up fine and runs fine, unless it idles over 2 minutes. Tune? Then why does it run ok, and even idles ok for 2min? BAH!!

see above. fuel cleaner plus an additional 1/2 tank. runs perfectly ok, just idles like hell. air filter checked out ok. and there is NO engine light now, which would mean no sensor is blowin a code.

The only thing is, if it was a vacuum leak, you would think it would be cauing a constant problem, besides the pain in my backside. I will def use your technique though!

In summary: The cobalt is running fine, until it idles over 2 minutes. At which point, the rpm drops and it misfires. No code is being thrown, so not computer/electrical unless the tune is in play. However, with that car, if the tune was out of whack, it wouldn't run. The tank has not yet been run out, although the additive was put in as well as 1/2 tank fresh gas. If it was a gas problem, again, you would think it would be a problem all the time, not just after 2min of idle. I definitely need to get the tune checked.

After 2 mins, the car is going into closed mode. Has got to be some kind of electrical issue.

    When it starts missing.

Very carefully, start pulling a spark plug wire one at a time.

If it starts missing more, push plug back on.

If you pull a plug, and the miss doesnt change, then you know thats your cylinder that is messed up.

Maybe you have a spark plug or plug wire going bad. And when the car heats up, after two minutes. It starts miss firing.

Well, if the car hasn't been running, then the heat up period would come in to play as you said. So, that may explain why after 2minutes the idle goes bad. But if the car has already been running, and the temperature is already up, then the idle should be bad from the start, but it isn't. Even if you turn the car off after running it, the idle is still fine until the 2 min mark. Regardless of it just being started up or after running it, around that 2min mark, the idle goes bad.

the one thing that i have always wanted to do/have is a motorcycle. but they scare the crap out of me. that's what happens when a your dad's friend takes you out on a sport bike when you are thirteen, pops a wheelie and you nearly fall off without a helmet.

enough about me, bike looks great and i am jealous.

    Congrats that is awesome...

...but I'm officially jealous, that's a very nice bike. I'd like my next one to be sports bike but the wife and I have decided that it will be a cruiser so that shes more comfortable on the back.
Hoping to get it this season but not sure the money is going to work out.
