well we are home from the beach. took 9 hrs to get there. but i made it home in 7hrs. found a couple good riders & we tore up the blacktop. wife decided she was miserable & wanted to go home. the heat/humidity combo along with activity was more than she could stand. she came unglued last nite & said she wasnt doing anything but sit in the a/c. told here there was no point being at the beach if she just wanted to sit inside we might as well be at our fabulous own home with good internet, a/c, tv & the dogs.

hour later we were in the truck on the way home....

I'm with your wife. Personally, I have never been a beach person and can't stand the heat and humidity. Nothing like home sweet home. ;)

    So, the next squirrel adventure
The one squirrel turned out to be a momma squirrel. Babies were still trapped in the nest.

Momma spent all night and morning chewing through steel to get back to babies. And was successful.

I had a chat with the wife (texting, she isn't here) and she was adamant that the rodents are removed...NOW!

My point to her was that it is the end of summer and the babies will be moving on soon, so let them go.

    Nope, she wanted them dead.

So I am relaxing my flibitty-jibbity arms and I see the baby squirrel on the screen door. Well that didn't take long, I thought, then I noticed it was on the inside of the screen door. I jumped into action, arms flibittty- flopping at my side. And I succeeded in scaring the thing under the couch.

Out comes the squirrel removal tool, aka a broom. I chase it from one end of the sectional couch to the other, never able to corral it. How is it possible that I gets from one end to the other so fast?

Oh, there are 2 of them.

    And then they just disappeared.

Ok. I wait. They are squirrels and I am an evolved human, so it is an even playing field.
I figured how they got in and boarded up the opening.

Then I waited, and waited. Can't nap, arms feel better.

One finally ventured up from the first floor, broom in hand, I chased it and it disappeared. But I heard a splash... it fell into the toilet trap I so carefully set in place.

I closed the lid and got a leather glove...slapsh grap and out the door it went.

    One down.

I sat and listened, sure enough I heard it, tracked the sound to the end table drawer. Glove on, I sprang...well I opened the drawer. It ran into the kitchen and hit a mouse trap, scared it. I cornered it grabbed it and out it went.

    I win.

    A beer

No glue traps. Worst trap you can used. Naked chipmunks, still alive.

It's not a proper Oregon villa until there's bullet holes from the inside out.

I use to be partial to Swiss cheese and red onion sammiches...don't do much bread anymore.

I wish it would hurry the hell up. The sooner the snow hits the sooner we get the winds out of the north and the sooner we cool down for 6 months.
