Too late to get pissed at vendor (RA) now

I bolted up clean T pan with 4 bolts
    Hopefully Tht will suffice

Unless y’all think air/moisture will F up something on ‘kinda’ exposed tranny bottom

    suggestions welcome
Let’s figure 7days until correct filter/gasket arrives (as far as timeline goes) for potential exposure
    Thanx

If you don’t need the truck, wait. I personally like gaskets.
FIPG seems to be taking the place of lots of stuff. It can/does seal seal better in certain situations.
Plus, it saves on machining cost. Which is why I think a lot of manufacturers use it a lot.

Looks like they sent a gasket/filter for the 340 tranny...

Have to be careful with suppliers....they get the rwd and 4x4 parts mixed up...

and same for 5 vs 6 lug.....gonna be some surprises there too...

some stuff you buy local.....or at least do the ship to store.....
so you can take in the old part and match......

at least that way you can get an instant refund.....

getting the wrong part has greatly increased last few years...

I ordered a gal of Maxlife atf thru Amazon month ago.....
......they sent me a case of adult diapers.....
anybody had luck running cloth/paper thru a340 tranny's....

The "filter" is just a strainer.

You can run brake cleaner through it to get any gunk out but really it should just be dirty fluid so you're good to use your old one.

As for the pan, it's pretty thin and can deform when being torqued down. It's for that main reason why I would suggest FIPG over the cork gasket.

You mentioned not having the right gasket, even more of a reason to just get some FIPG (call it a sign).

The fipg may not be the best thing for someone that does not have that experience....

mating surfaces have to be pristine....only get one shot....and have to wait to torque it down...
And a chance of 'beads of crap' breakin off inside......

Little pan like that is not gonna give you much problems....

Mine came from auto zone 6 blocks away.....felpro....

But yeah....If you have that touch......knock yourself out.....
do in secret in the back shed....dont care.....

I'm not doing denture cream either....

    when that day comes......implants......

And a pan can easily deform even when torqued to spec.

Also, how can we assume the OP does not have much experience? It isn't hard to do even for a first timer anyway (if it was his first time doing so).

The only hard part is taking the time using a scraper tool to scrape off all the gunk from the pan's sealing surface and cleaning it all up.

If you want I can post pics of mine....
    hasnt leaked a drop.....not even a stain....
    4yrs and counting....

there are plenty of places that merit super close attention...
dont see this as one of em...

Like I said earlier....if you get a mag inline filter, you never have to do the filter again...
so you never pull the pan again...... I even put couple extra magnets in the there...
and everyone should have mag drain plugs where possible...

Your really taking a risk flushing an old tranny...

I would use the lucas conditioner.....maybe half strength....

I am slow. Seriously, I hate working on cars.
And when I do, I go “slow”. By the time I get parts mounted, the FIPG has started to tack up.
You “should” do as the manufacturer states. Some say to wait some time and then torque to spec.
Others say torque to spec immediately.

I think the biggest thing is, most people use too much and don’t apply it correctly.

My biggest issue is, you have to be “careful” installing the parts. Alignment going on is important.
And I’m usually doing it myself. One hand holding the part the other inserting bolts. Studs and nuts help of doing it by yourself.

So my #1 concern is waiting 7-8 days for correct part
Don’t want to damage bottom valve body from not being airtight

Pan is on ‘temporary’ 4 bolts only
I taped over ignition cylinder to make sure I don’t forget and start

    general consensus is
    No big deal ?
Half way seated pan won’t harm anything for week or so?

no insurance yet, so not driving
(Getting tip/top mechanical shape before kid gets the taco)
    No rush/pressing timeline
    Thanks for all responses

and yes O’Silver, idiots sent me the 340

You've mentioned "flushing" more than once.

He's doing a drain and fill, granted a few to cycle the old stuff out.

There is no risk versus the "flushing" done at service stations that could actually break up gunk and debris causing possible issues down the road.

What risk is there that you speak of?

    yeah man
Let me just say that I went down tht ‘WAY too much’ fugi bond application once. Never again.
Took me longer to clean 2 Subaru valve covers correctly than to install them

currently taco’s pan is scraped/cleaned/red Brillo padded
I just need the correct freakin filter/gasket

I'm not trying to say that by using a gasket you're going to get a leak so don't take it as such.

I was just trying to emphasize that there is a greater chance of a leak versus using FIPG.

You'd be surprised by how many pans have finally been removed on these vehicles for the first time, with many more new threads popping up on how to do so; these are vehicles with well over 2-300k miles.

That's a ton of miles to go leak free all because FIPG was used from the factory.

It bonds will, and if left to cure, will ensure you have a well-sealed pan. That and you can buy tube at any time from any Toyota dealer near you.

Less risk, more convenient, I kind of like those odds better myself.

Did it for both a 230k mile Tacoma and 280k mile 4Runner.

    Assuming he’s talking about
So much gunk/metal/clutch material in old fluid, actually helps the old ass transmission function

again, when I originally checked T dipstick, fluid looked….well…better than I expected. After pan drop, my fears confirmed.
    Meh
Not complaining, I def think I’m gonna add some ‘high mileage’ sauce thou
