    Hey Boys!
(Unless we have some girls among us than Hello to you as well.)
I’m proud to say I am now one of you! I just picked up my first Tacoma last week. It’s a black 08 TRD Sport, long box, with everything you can get in it (stock), and I absolutely love it. I live in Calgary AB but I got my truck out of the good old USA, where the cars are cheep and the girls are cheaper! (OK I’m only kidding about the girl part, I know how people can get all uptight about stuff like that so…I’m ONLY Kidding! It’s only a saying!) Even thought I think that Toyota is the best truck maker in the word, I don’t see the rational behind paying $43,000 for something when I can take a 5 hour drive across the boarder and only pay $30,000 for the EXACT SAME PRODUCT, Made in the EXACT SAME FACTORY. I haven’t done anything to it…yet… but look forward to getting to know all of you and picking your brains for some great ideas and hopefully post some of my own. From what I have seen so fare, this is the place to be, and you are the people who know.

Welcome to TW, 08TRD. I love my truck but I am not sure I would pay $43,000 for it.

BTW, there are several girls on this site. I believe one of them is the top poster...

Welcome to TW! I agree with rhoppas, they're great trucks but i'd never pay 43k for mine. It seems like everyone from Canada should make the drive to the states to buy their truck if there's that much of a difference. How does that work as far as getting it back in Canada? do you have to pay lots of taxes and import fee's and all that crap, or do you just drive on back over the border?

It’s really not all that bad getting them back into Canada with the new free trade agreement… if you know the loopholes. I bought mine out of SoCal through Montana so I didn’t have to pay state tax, at the border all I had to pay was the GST (federal tax) 6% that I would have to pay regardless of where I bought it. Now I’m in the middle of getting an “out of country inspection done” that’s only $120 or so. So really, now with the US and Canadian dollars @ par that only costs were transportation. $800 to have it shipped from California to Montana, and gas. So many people are starting to go down to get vehicles, the problem now is to find a dealer that will sell to a Canadian, the manufactures are starting to come down on the dealers about it, that’s why I had to go all the way to California. But Hell, to save 12k-15k you better believe I'll do a little leg work. Plus if I ever want a new one, I sell it and make a butt lode of cash. Hear in Calgary 2005 are still selling for 27K+. One of the many reasons to love the USA (but I still have to look past that one guy…what’s his name??? oh yeah GEORGE W. BUSH)

Why would toyota come down on dealers for selling to a Canadian? As long as they get their money they shouldnt' care. If you know anyone that wants an 07 i'll sell mine for 33k :)

I guess the exchange rate was pretty good when you bought your truck.
