Once upon a time, I had a superior tell me to "get comfortable being uncomfortable." After I was promoted and reassigned to an area I didn't really want to be it.

There is something to be said about being too comfortable in a job/position. You definitely grow and develope more when you are not.

Move over here to Kitsap County! No pesky ferry ride to visit the Olympics and housing is much cheaper. Plus side: if you work in SEA, you get to ride the ferry every day (my wife, a Seattle commuter, is punching my arm now )!

Just spent a week in the San Juans on a boat. Friday Harbor seemed awfully inviting to me if I didn't have to be at work in person every day here in Everett. Maybe worth considering down the line if there's opportunity / remote work available.

Finally have a probable cause of my mysterious starter issue. Bad starter solenoid. Talked to the local dealer service advisor and he confirmed that my suspicion was correct, and had the issue himself a few months ago.

Gonna have to pay to get it serviced since the apapartment I'm in is a no vehicle maintenance clause type. Its a stiff bill vs do it yourself but whatever.

Could you do it in the parking lot of the parts store? I see it all the time. Not that you have to. Just saying it’s an option.

I thought about it but if you look at rhe procedure to dismantle and reinstall a starter on a 2015, its a tight job. I probably could do it, but given the circumstances, Im just going to solve it the easy way.

Esp because most of my tools are in a storage unit 5 miles away so if I need another extension, etc I cant just walk to the toolbox in my garage if I didnt grab something, etc.

Yeah, I miss my dope garage in Utah...and my motorcycle. Have toyed with the idea of starting to look for a house around here, but prices are HORRID and the taxes are worse along with the commute. Def trying to keep my eyes forward, but the thought of backsliding and finding a new job next spring in UT is tempting to me every day.

Yep, which is why it'd be easy to just find job with a reasonable commute and come back. I do miss the state and the homies a lot.

    So...it's not the starter...most likely....probably...maybe

Was fortunate that the " *click* and dead truck " sporadic issue happened as the runner was trying to pull my truck into the service bay so I got to show my service manager the issue in full. Ended up with him and 2 shop techs looking in the engine bay and the scanguage as I showed the issue and the fix, and after a bunch of on/off cycles, they ruled: yeah, that's not a starter issue or a alternator issue.

Little bit of discussion later, we ended up back on my original theory of it being a battery or connection to the terminal issue.

So downside is the mystery continues, the upside is that a new battery (even a Grp31 AGM battery) is cheaper than a starter replacement. I also already have new terminal posts in the truck so I can swap those as well to start knocking out probable causes.

Yeah, but has been progressively getting worse. Strangely/thankfully, it didn't rear it's head once while in the process of moving here.

I def think it has to do with battery age and corrosion on the terminals. I think it has to do with the much damper air. I know it took a deep clean of my truck when I got here as well because it rehydrated all the gross that 9% humidity hides under the moon dust
