Hi all, this one has been a stumper. I've got a 2.7 with the W59 that recently had a clutch rebuild done by the stealership. I hear an intermittent light whine/whirring (hard to describe, but it's a high-pitched and constant noise) that disappears the instant I apply the lightest of pressure whatsoever to the clutch pedal. Basically just have to get past the pedal freeplay.

It's not causing shifting problems but it's annoying to listen to.

As for the rebuild, I gave the dealer all OEM parts sourced from Rock Auto, and did pretty much everything - clutch pack, pilot and TO bearings, clutch fork, and resurfaced flywheel.

Dealer adjusted the clutch pedal and confirmed it's in spec and also applied grease to the fork pivot point.

Do ya'll think it's the TOB? I've searched a lot of threads and it seems this is a common issue.

I'm guessing the solution is turn the radio up and drive it until it fails.

    Thanks!

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
Either put up with the noise or keep changing Clutch release Bearings to you get a quiet one.

    It could take several.

I have the same sound but only in first gear. In my case, the sound appears when crawling around in first gear. Is that your case? If so - I think it’s normal. Mechanically, I have found nothing to suggest a problem.

Nope, for me happens in all gears including neutral. Happens most on cold starts and then kinda vanishes as things heat up.

Now if things get louder and rougher it might be time to look closer.

    Good luck!

It started pretty much the day of install and has been behaving the same for a few months, so I think it's stable.

Thanks for answering my questions, you're usually one of the first to show up in my threads.
