Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
Doing some poking around online, East Twin is FCFS. Looks like a great place! I'm down with whatever we end up with, though.

Verified my vacation yesterday and will be up sometime on Thur.

Pat @pearing , thanks for your time scouting, etc.

For those coming out next weekend, I managed to safely transport some goods from my trip to Kentucky:

Is it too early to call dibs on one of those?

I can bring something to share as well.

Of course man. I'm not much of a beer guy, so there will be plenty.

It has since come to my attention that all the camp sites out in the Penokees are first come after September first.

That's not necessarily a bad thing. There should be plenty of vacancy on a Thursday. We can each grab a site and have room for those showing up Friday.

One thing to consider is that these other sites are further from Bayfield. So, if we decide to go to the Apple festival, we're looking at a longer ride. I'm pretty flexible, but I'd like to know what everyone else thinks.

East Twin looks good to me. I'd be happy to lock that in as long as everyone is ok with it.

I wouldn't be so concerned about any 4Runners. If you hadn't noticed the trend, it seems like it's always one specific 4Runner that's always getting into trouble. I'd chock that up to a lack of driver skills, or poor decision making. ;)

There isn't a "can't make it" choice, and I won't be able to make this one. I have an elephant gun match that weekend. I will probably never make it to Africa, but I did buy a .375 H&H years ago just for this. It is set up to replicate hunting scenarios, fleeing animal, charging animal, you're a lousy shot/panic shot scenario (12 shots in 35 secs, using a bolt or lever gun, no semi autos allowed) that holds 4 rounds so you need get your shots off and do 2 reloads. I've never gotten all of the allotted rounds off. Too slow on the reloads.

I'd be fine with either Day lake or East Twin. I've camped Day lake a long time ago and enjoyed it

I was initially leaning towards Day lake, because I have good memories there. But it looks like we could be right on the water at east Twin.

Either way, I think I'm bringing the kayak and fishing gear.

12 shots in 35 seconds, your shoulder is going to hate you.
Then you'll need a few shots to kill the pain.

Well, the .375 H&H that I own is minimum caliber to legally hunt elephants. I'd rather have a .416 Rigby or a .458 Lott for elephants.
For some stupid reason, (which I cannot explain) I actually enjoy the recoil. Yeah, I feel it, but it doesn't really hurt. And I don't flinch.
Wanna really rock your world? Try a .577. The barrel looks like a 20 ga., but a bullet comes out, not birdshot. I've seen vids of people getting knocked down from the recoil.

So, I switched to the winter tires due to the bent wheel. Do you think I should put the MT's back on for the Friday adventure?

I have no idea yet where I'll be geographically but going to try and position myself in the Bayfield neighborhood for the fun run on Saturday. Can't vote for the option but mark me down as "might show up last minute unexpectedly".

Does your locker work yet? I would say the MT's would be better given the rain we have been having, but any old slick should do in a pinch...
