What is a Cowl Intake?​

The Cowl Intake/Cowl Induction kit draws air from the high-pressure area at the base of the windshield which is also cleaner, colder, and denser. In addition to clearing room in a cramped engine compartment for additional batteries, compressors, air systems etc. it also raises the intake/inlet substantially higher than factory without adding a cumbersome snorkel.

Q: Will you share the STL or 3MF files?
A: Absolutely not. I have many many hours investing in these files and this is my business. Sorry!

Q: What is a cowl intake?
A: The Cowl Intake/Cowl Induction kit draws air from the high-pressure area at the base of the windshield which is also cleaner, colder, and denser. In addition to clearing room in a cramped engine compartment for additional batteries, compressors, air systems etc. it also raises the intake/inlet substantially higher than factory without adding a cumbersome snorkel.

Q: How is this any different than a snorkel?
A: A cowl intake, as an alternative to a snorkel, refers to a modified air intake system that draws in fresh air for the engine from a high point on the vehicle's cowl or near the windshield, rather than using a traditional snorkel mounted on the side of the vehicle.

Q: Does this pass the Smog Test in California?
A: Probably not… BUT I would recommend keeping your stock intake pipe and reinstall it prior to the inspection. Swapping these parts wouldn’t take long at all!

Q: Is it loud (or can you hear it) in the cabin?
A: It is not loud whatsoever but there is a slight noise when stepping on it. I personally like it!

At Pelé Prints, we are committed to providing high-quality 3D printing services to our clients. SHIPMENT PROCESSING TIME
All orders are processed within one, to two, business days. Orders are not shipped or delivered on weekends or holidays.
If we are experiencing a high volume of orders, shipments may be delayed. Please allow additional days in transit for delivery. If there will be a significant delay in shipment of your order, we will contact you via email or telephone.

INCORRECT SHIPPING ADDRESS OR ADDRESS CHANGES
Items shall be shipped to the address the Customer has provided to Pelé Prints. If customer’s address, for any reason, changes, or is invalid, and the product is lost as a result, or delivered to an address from which Customer cannot retrieve it, Customer is solely responsible for said loss, if Pelé Prints shipped the product to the address supplied by the Customer during purchase. Upon delivery to the address, the Customer supplies when ordering, Pelé Prints is considered to have completed delivery of the product, and no further liability is assumed by Pelé Prints, for customer’s actual receipt of item. If for some reason your package gets "returned to sender" you will be responsible for the cost of shipping the package back to you.

LOST OR STOLEN PACKAGES
If for some reason your package becomes lost, please contact Pelé Prints so a claim with the courier can be filed. Pelé Prints will NOT ship another item until the courier contacts Pelé Prints about the claim. If you are concerned about theft, please use a shipping address to a business or other safe place. Pelé Prints is not responsible for stolen or misdelivered packages.

SHIPPING RATES
Shipping charges for your order have been included in some of the items for sale. If the item does not specifically state that the shipping is included, shipping will be calculated prior to completing your order and receiving payment. The included shipping costs are only subject to addresses in Canada and Continental United States. Please note that additional charges may apply for any order shipping to Hawaii, Guam, Puerto Rico, or international destinations.

SHIPMENT TO P.O. BOXES OR APO/FPO ADDRESSES
Pelé Prints ships throughout Canada and to the Continental United States. We also accept special orders for many international locations. We do not ship to APO/FPO/DPO addresses. If an order is received with a P.O. Box address, a physical address will be required.

CUSTOMS, DUTIES AND TAXES
Pelé Prints is not responsible for any customs and taxes applied to your order. All fees imposed during or after shipping are the responsibility of the customer (tariffs, taxes, etc.).

DAMAGED GOODS POLICY
While we make every attempt to make sure packages arrive in perfect condition, on occasion a product does get damaged. If this happens with your package, please CONTACT US IMMEDIATELY!
In order to file a damaged goods claim, customer must contact Pelé Prints no later than 3 days after receiving the product. After 3 days, Pelé Prints is unable to accept damaged goods claims. If your item arrives damaged, please contact us immediately upon receipt.
Pelé Prints cannot be held responsible for any product damages incurred during transit.
If you can see damage upon delivery, DO NOT SIGN for the item and REFUSE THE DELIVERY.
If item is delivered with damages, please document all issues with pictures and contact us right away with the delivery slip and photos so we can assist you.

 

This is gonna be a major stretch --- but has anyone done any comparison dyno testing with this cowl-induction setup? Wonder if there could be a few HP loss or gain either way.

 

I don’t know of anyone that has dyno tested before and after. The cowl below the windshield is a high pressure area so it should have slightly better performance. I’ve been running my cowl intake for over a year and definitely haven’t noticed any draw backs!

One other benefit for dirt road / off-road use is that there's probably a lot less road dust getting drawn into the air intake at cowl/hood level than there is down in the front-tire wheel well. I'm strongly considering this mod, doing it with your kit/parts.

I have a detailed installation instructions that is included. The main part is removing the large black plastic cowl cover that is where your windshield wipers are. I will add KIT4 to the list.

What purpose does the HVAC Cover serve?

 

I believe it serves a few functions. But do correct me if I’m wrong.

1 - To reduce the engine noise from having the intake there.
2 - Reduce the fighting with airflow between the HVAC and the Air intake (sorry I don’t know the terminology)
I’m no aerodynamic scientist / engineer, but I have my imagination.
3 - Eliminates some FOD / contaminants such as leaf’s, pebbles, and other FOD.
4 - Restricts the fuckin mice and other animals from nesting and eventually dying there.
