Tarp/Soft Cover for 09 Access Cab

Hi everyone,

Just got a new 09 access cab and I'm looking for something flexible that I can cover the bed with but not lose the vertical space when I'm hauling lots of stuff.

I don't think I want a hard cover because the height of objects you put in the bed is then restricted. Do soft covers expand a fair amount, or should I just rig a tarp on top of my stuff? I want something thats flexible and will keep everything dry. Any ideas?

 

i have an access tonneau cover and i really like it - works well in very hot and very cold temps and is adjustable if it stretches. local toyo dealer sells truxedo brand covers that looked very similar. i don't really like hard covers cuz it's a pain to remove them if you need to haul really tall stuff. been really happy with the access cover

From what i read the OP wants something that would be more flexible than the ACCESS...since it is only bed heigth..

I also love my ACCESS but may not be what the OP is looking for.

Nope, does not interfere at all. Although, you have to take the rails off and the LE frame mounts behind the rail.

Anything and everything you need to know about installing one. It can be done by one person, but a second set of hands makes it alot easier.

 

So I've been looking around and I've narrowed it down between the Access LE and the Extang Tri-Fold. I've been told that covers like the Access can shrink up and not seal properly to the tailgate. Is this true? If it is, I think I'll go with the Tri-Fold unless people have had bad experiences with it.

 

I was torn between those two as well. I ended up going with the Access LE. I saw the tri-fold on a truck in a parking lot one day and started talking to the guy about it. I didn't like how the tri-fold sat on the bed.

I installed the Access LE myself with minimal problems. A 2nd set of hands would have been nice to help hold the bed rails when reinstalling. I have no complaints about the cover.

One thing to consider is how often you haul large items... If you do it on a regular basis, it is a pain IMHO, when you do, since you will have to take the cover off and store it someplace safe. And if you are an impulse buyer, will the cover and the item both fit safetly in the bed on the trip home since you lose about 1/3 of your bed to the cover.

I have a solid tri fold cover that is now sitting in my garage waiting to be sold... It spent more time off of the truck than on. I now have the LE and love it. Rolls up out of the way in a few seconds.

If you never haul large items, then you should be ok with the tri-fold.

I can't tell you about the sealing in the back of the LE... I never put the seal in - thought it looked ugly when the cover was rolled up and didn't know how easy it would be to damage. But then again, I'm not real concerned about water in my bed.

With the Access LE you can use the stock tie downs.

 

Thats a good point about hauling large items. Would a tri-fold fit inside of the access area of my cab? This would remedy the problem of hauling large items spur of the moment.
