Ended up with 285/70r17 -10 offset on 2'' lift, no rubbing except stuffing it coming in hot on an incline in reverse, 99.9% of time nothing.

The perfect size IMO if you no like exceeding 2" and still getting good ground clearance ... I have 5100's and Eibach coils and I'm level with no rubs. Tires are 1.5 inches higher and only .5 in wider from my stock 265 70r16 . Excellent off road ride.. kine look

I'll add a few more comments from my original reply. I was really torn between the 275 and going 285. With work from home my truck no longer a daily driver so I was willing to sacrifice things like mileage for bigger tires but it had to make sense. Ultimately I landed on 275 mostly to avoid CMC and in researching tires there was a big weight difference between the 275 and 285 I was looking at.

I wish I took pics at the shop. Someone had a set of the same toyo open country rt trail but in 285/70-17 ready to put on their T4r. We put them side by side with my 275/70-17 RT Trails was less than .5 inch height between the two closer to .25 .3 inch and the 285 was just a hair wider. The big kicker was it came in 6lbs per tire heavier. So it was a big weight sacrifice for minimal gain in height and width. That pretty much left me without regret for not going 285.

I do think now there are a few more options in the 275 tire size like the open country at3 and rt trail it's a great option to look at over 285/70-17. Still get almost all the benefit of bigger tire but at a weight savings along with possibly avoiding a cmc depending on your wheel offset uca choice and alignment.

Few more pics. Still adding some weight and lift is still pretty new and settling a bit. Trans skid and sliders will help settle it a bit more then same for the gfc next year

Stoked I went with the 275/70r17s courtesy of this thread a few months back. Zero rubbing issues for me with the 4Runner Pro wheels and Falken’s.

Thanks man! I got the TRD lift when I bought it for $2k installed. Wanted the pro grill anyways, 3 year warranty was nice, and honestly I just didn’t want the hours of research to find the better (and cheaper) option. Real happy with it though! Smooth on road and nice on the dirt roads I take it on for camping/hiking in the National Forests nearby.

'23 Tacoma TRD 4x4 Sport here. Just installed the Bilstein 5100's on the top notch (2" lift up front) and a 1" block in the back. Looking to go to 275's when I get new wheels, but what offset do I need to clear the UCA? And will the 275's rub anywhere else on the truck with the lift? I'll probably go with Falken Wildpeaks since they were extremely good to me on my last truck.

A lot will have to do with your choice in wheels. If you get ones with a lot of negative offset (poke), you will likely rub. The 4Runner wheels that I have don’t rub with 275’s, but they are pretty much flush with the body and only 7” wide.

Any rubbing at all with this setup?

Im looking at a 17x8 Wheel with a 0 offset, vs the stock 17x7 with a +30 offset. im wondering if the difference in offset and with of the wheel will keep it from rubbing against the UCA, or the fender.. I've also got bilstein 5100's at top notch (2" front 1" block in back)

I’m not sure. I hear the 0 offset are a good option. I think the 4Runner SEMA wheels I run are +15mm, so a little more tucked in that zero offset, but not as tucked as the stock OffRoad wheels.

You may end up with some very minor but manageable rubbing.

Which wheels are the SEMA Wheels? I searched it and found a ton of different pics of rims. I'm now considering some replica stock looking rims on the TRD Pro's that are a 7" width with a small positive offset. Im looking for something bronze or gunmetal... I love the black rims on a black truck but I see a TON of them.. I'm finding some 17x8 with a small +4 or +5 offset that I'm thinking would fit the truck with 275's and be alright.

Hello, I see that many are riding on 275/70/17 without mudguards. I have 265/70/17 on my black 2018 SR with the factory mudguards. The tire wall protudes just a wee bit outside the coverage of the mudguard. Whenever I drive over roads with muddy water, the wheels spray the muddy water onto both side of the body. It's rather annoying. I wonder if those riding on 275/70/17 have the same experience? Is it because my SR is black and the muddy water shows up in contrast?

I have 275s with the factory mudguards on and have the same experience, although I remember it doing the same thing with the stock setup. I also have a black truck so don't know if I notice it more than others.
