It sounds like aftermarket is a gamble. Some say it's doing fine after a few years, and some leak after a few months, from the threads I've seen.

Ya pretty sure it's just the less cringe version of "suprisewowbrand" you find on Amazon

Did you ever rebuild the steering gear? IIRC RedHead came recommended on mud when I was looking into it.

Sounds worth the gamble to me faced with $1200+

I do remember flipping it over for something, as I followed the Mud walk-through to the T.

Laptop on my bench, pump taken apart, had to throw it on the vice and wrap the gear in those rags to get it pulled out of the old pump without damaging it...that was fun.

I found an OEM rack for under 500 on McGeorge. There is one little bushing that cost like $50 though, so that's annoying.

Still suggesting you do it yourself. The most annoying part is the alignment afterwards

On the LC, I replaced all hoses, high pressure included, and put in an OEM pump I rebuilt myself.

Got the rebuild kit from Joey and saved over $150 going that route over new on the pump alone.

Getting the pump out was the worst of it so not bad at all.

I had purchased (way back when I first got it) a new plate/mount for the steering damper. I could not for the life of me get that tapered bolt out of the old one to install the OME one.

I was wondering about the steering gearbox with all the crazy ball bearings

Ah steering box no, I left that alone.

105 sector shaft upgrade would've been nice "while I was in there" but naw fuck that...even with slim hands it was still a pain in the ass to work in there.

Might be from jarring impacts. Those are quite often due to the amount of train tracks in my town.

That’s only if you don’t get enough speed though. If a Tacoma has full lift off, the suspension can usually soak it up if you land flat.

    @Ozark_RegCab

Had to dig through my old thread but here you'll see the cluster fuck of leaks and wires in the way right above the pump after yanking the battery out

    20230101_141743.jpg

Even then, steering pump comes out from underneath after removing the steering damper

Sunroofs should be banned from hardtops. You want a breezy ride, buy a drop top.

    Unfortunately you are wrong.

Tilting up the back of the sunroof automatically turns any car into a race car. Cracking the rear windows with that creates a perfect breeze in the car and lets you listen to the oh so delicious barble and crackle from the over run. You get the fresh air and breeze without having to be baked by the sun.

Only reason why my shit is coming from all the way over there is because that's where manufacturing happens; some flight stuff.
