Michio Hoshino, he was a Japanese photographer that specifically shot wildlife photography. Was really good at it.

He was part of a team to film bears regarding a documentary only to be killed by one early in the morning. Happened when he was in Russia.

And yeah, that was his last picture he took just before being mauled to death.

Fuck that's awful, reminds me of that one guy they did a documentary on some years back that thought he was immune to the aggression of Grizzlies and would constantly try and get close to them in the wild, only to eventually get mauled/eaten by one. While his audio was recording (there are supposed "real" clips of it online, I won't link them here but it's pretty awful)

Yep, he had visited them for years or so, and it wasn't until he went up with his girlfriend that the whole incident took place.

Freaking awful but dude...it's nature and nature don't give a fuck.

 

OH I have seen some of Nick Brandt's stuff.

Funny I didn't realize he was that well known but his stuff is badass.

Other than me narrowing it down a bit more. I expected something like this though. It just confirms that I'm getting under their skin and I'm encouraged by that.

 

Jesus Christ, that is terrifying.

Best case, that 1200lb bag of anger, teeth, and claws will bite the back of your neck and turn the lights off fast.

Worst case, I won’t even contemplate.

 

Terrifying is an understatement...more you look at that pic the worse it gets. Can only imagine what he thought those last few moments (or hopefully, seconds).

I listened to a podcast episode not too long about that interviews survivors of crazy near death experiences, one of them was the survivor of a Grizzly attack. He was out hunting alone and a Grizzly attacked him, mauled him up to near death then let him be. The guy thought he was in the clear and started crawling away, only to have the bear come back and start mauling him again. Happened like a few times before the guy finally shoved his fist up the bear's vaginal cavity and yanked, sent it off running and he was able to crawl back to his camp for help. Miraculously he survived but he has permanent injuries of course
