Just saw the tacoma

Sell it and buy a new Tacoma if you have a Frontier and want the new Tacoma. If you don't want a turbo midsize it's the only option.

I have a 2.7 t6 Ford I like the power delivery at low RPM, but a 5.0 V8 still sounds like the better option.

I can't see the new Tacoma being sold with out a mark up, and or extended wait times. Which is a buzz kill. If you really want a Tacoma the wait, at least for SRP might not be too bad. I don't care how badass this truck might be, I'm not up for that stuff.

What's with SRP anyway, why did Toyota go from MSRP to SRP?

Too bad it needs a battery and electric motor to do it.
Gone are the days of a simple KISS truck with low maintenance costs over the years.
Outrageous some of the prices they get for parts and repairs.
Turbo, battery and electric motor, electronics for everything imaginable.
No way is 15-25 years cost effective anymore.

I could, don’t even use all the torques of my 3rd Gen. Don’t see how 465 ft/lbs tq is practical for street use in a mid size, the hybrid’s tow rating actually goes down. Much rather better fuel efficiency than all out power, seems Toyota doesn’t care about that in their trucks. They are now into the power numbers pissing match.

Was sitting beside the new Frontier in traffic, better looking truck than the 4G too.

 

Waiting to see what the Hardbody looks like. Probably like the concept, not sure if I like the retro wheels or not.

 

This is the same tired bullshit that’s been happening over and over again.

You have a model that’s just right in size but then you keep bloating it until you need to make a new model that is smaller for the people that don’t need a midsize truck as big as a full-size truck.

 

Exactomundo! Today's mid size trucks are within a few inches of what was considered a full size in the late 80s/early 90s. My first new vehicle ever was a 1992 K1500. I loved it; drove it for many, many happy trouble free miles. It was a regular cab, long bed; i.e. typical pickup truck. It had a wheelbase of 131.5". the wheelbase, height, and width of that truck is damn near the same dimensions as a current CC mid size.

 

My son and I still have a 1995 F-150, single cab, 8' bed, with the venerable 4.9 liter I6, and a 5-Speed Manual, yeah, way more "truck" than my Tacoma (in the background):

Who cares where the power comes from? I'd rather have a fully electric Tacoma, but I'll take a hybrid in the meantime.

Imagine being on a enthusiast forum and bringing up 'practical' as basis for an argument.

 

After owning Toyotas for 30 years they were always the practical choice over the other manufacturers. So who is the enthusiast, the long time owner or the new comer chest thumpers?

Much rather have greater fuel efficiency than an emotional support truck…

 

That just means you aren't an enthusiast anymore. Nothing wrong with that. We age, we move on.

LOL, Toyota can do both "practical" and "enthusiast"; my Tacoma subscribes to the former, the GR-Corolla I have a deposit on, well, not so much.

 

That’s fine and all, but I don’t like my choices of a base model truck limited by manufacturers who feel the need to keep offering more and more expensive lifestyle vehicles.

I mostly use mine to haul garbage and building supplies for the house.

 

And then there's the 1997 NSX 6MT my son's dealership just took in trade yesterday; I am sorely tempted to forget the GR-Corolla and buy the NSX outright (but that would hurt the slush fund I'm building in the run up to buying a new house next year).
