I thought I was the only one to use towels as seat covers.

I am 100% video "taught" plus I only weld occassionally a couple times a year (if I averaged it out throughout the years), but https://www.weldingtipsandtricks.com/mig-welding-basics.html helped me learn everything I need to know in order to make parts and things for my needs. Bob Moffat from Weld.com also is a good video "professor."

As far as welders I started out with a Hobart Handler 140 that I got for a good deal used with a cart and a bottle. I liked how easy it was to dial in with only 5 clickable voltage settings - the higher two settings were great on anything up to and including 1/4" (although inside corners of thicker material usually won't get good penetration on a 110 machine). This was the last project I did before it died. I fixed a couple things like replacing the torch and the power cord during the time I was using it for about 5 years but I needed something reliable and bought a new one once I couldn't get it to work no matter what I tried.

Now I have an Eastwood mig 180 that I think I got a year ago for about $500 shipped on a holiday day sale. From glancing at the PrimeWeld 180 the setup looks really similar to the Eastwood, but the digital readout on the PW addresses something I'm not stoked on about my machine's analog dial readout that has a lot of changes in a short span of the dial. But once it's dialed in it does well.

Felt like the elven smiths of Rivendale bringing Aldurin back to its former glory for the rise of the true king of Gondor

And welded and cleaned up all the cracks on this bad boy

I can not figure out why people buy trucks yet never use them to haul or tow anything .

I cut two of these today. Cut the signs from 16 and the back plates out of 24 gauge. I didn't draw the original, but I did make quite a few changes to open up some of the geometry to make sure I could cut it with 30amp tip. My cut height was a little off and I got some beveling, but not enough anybody except another plasma cutter would notice.

Cutting 24 gauge for the first time. I have my speed up to 175inches per minute. Fastest I've cut to date. Worked fine.

    Now, for the paint :annoyed:

It looks a little better from a distance actually.

It is a "DogCreekCustoms" file from Fireshare. Their files are always solid as downloaded. I only modified it because I reduced the scale and was worried I'd get some overlapping cuts. Several of the stars on the flag had to be redone. No big deal though.

Awesome find. This summer my dad’s 08 with the smaller rear doors like your white (07?) finally developed enough electrical gremlins with the engine and trans (probably) from being eaten by the salt brine in New England that he was convinced it was time to get a new truck. All they had at the time was a 23 that had the same smaller rear doors. He bought it and only a couple months later traded it in for a low miles 21 like yours with the full rear doors and leather.

He hated how he couldn’t put it in a lower gear and let the engine slow him down on hills - said it would just redline the engine - and the rear seats didn’t allow as much storage space when folded up due to moulded plastic trays meant to hold smaller items being there which wouldn’t allow him to put his hunting gear or coolers back there. Another complaint he had was that despite having a more economical engine, with such a small tank, it only had a 280 mile fuel range which isn’t nearly as much as his 08’s mid 300 miles. That mattered on his northern Maine camping and fishing trips. One thing I noticed was that it had an automatic electronic parking break which I imagine could / will lead to major frustration for people if they develop electrical issues like my dad’s old truck.

I liked the 23 when I drove it a little when I visited them this summer, but man I think that 5.7 is an incredible engine - his 08 had 200+k on it and it (when unencumbered by the electrical issues) pulled his snowmobile and boat trailers like they weren’t even there. I can’t imagine how nice that’s going to be having a fresh vehicle with a solid motor in the era of small displacement 4 / 6 bangers.

Meant to buy one of these almost 2 years ago, until recently I saw a sale on them

Will come in clutch for making table/frame setups and keeping things square

    20230910_112926.jpg

Also since it wasn't 100 degrees today, I welded a few up

    20230910_115041.jpg

Need to buy more steel cause I have 5 more orders to fulfill

Thanks. I threw a half a$$ paint job on it today. I need to go back and fix the front of the beak after it dries (wrong color), but the color really makes it pop.

    Possible @Kwikvette favorites list :)

FYI, this one cut great straight off of Fireshare. Just enter cut speed, pierce delay, and download. I cut 4 because I have a lot of 2A buddies. Got two of them painted up this evening.

Got myself a little belt sander, it's really strong too which cleans up the bulk of the welds on these stiffeners

Funny that the table is finally being put to use again versus being a catch-all; used scrap 1/4" solid steel for the table top and really only used it twice for my saw

    20230911_134707.jpg

    20230911_134109.jpg

Still requires a little clean-up which is now having me considering a change in the design

Going to call Swag Offroad and figure out if I should get a different die set or just their adjustable bottom to fully bend my stiffeners to alleviate using relief cuts
