    That'd just be an average.

$761.75 or thereabouts is the MSRP.

$190.43 is on the low end of your googled markup (25%) so $952.18.

Take into consideration you live in a rich neighborhood, $1,200 bucks would be chump change for the part via your shop.

I replaced the rack on the 100 with new tie rod ends. I didn't take many pictures. It was a pain in the ass job that I would rather forget. I removed the oil cooler and jacked up the engine on the driver's side to get it out.

It's about like trying to put toothpaste back in a tube using a toothpick.

Yes it does look like a PITA. Not necessarily difficult, but tight and dirty. Hopefully the Tacoma rack isn’t as bad.

Thanks but I’m not quite sure what all those part numbers are referencing. I could look them all up later. It looks like the rack is 466, so about the same as McGeorge.

There is a shop in LIT and Missouri that will let me bring in OEM or Sumo gear parts. They won't do that for anybody. It saves them time so they can start and finish without interruption. They know that I will have exactly what they need and it will be as good as it gets. Where shops can take a bath when an owner brings parts it when the parts are wrong and they need to stop in the middle of a job to get the correct part.

That was another excellent point, going back to the whole "taking up a lift or engine bay with no production" statement.

Yeah they might not trust me enough to bring everything they need. I’m sure that can take up a lot of time for shops to source every little part. That’s probably part of the reason for markups really.

Hopefully not. Is that known for being a pain on the 100 series in particular.?

Yeah I started learning when I couldn't pay or really when my brain started going, "You want how much for X job that seems like its really simple?" I still know a fraction of what a lot of you guys do about engine mechanics, but once you start working on things, you at least get comfortable with work that feels like it's over your head, then when you do one of those, the next thing is less intimidating. I certainly still have my limits, but I've also saved myself and family a lotta cash not to mention headaches of fixing things and then coming across something else that I don't feel a shop would have.
(Caveat being, I've never worked on super modern vehicles, so that may be all Greek to me. I'm sure I'll find out at some point)

The $466 you referred to in his post isn't, but the $761 is which is where I got my msrp from just above

I'd like to take a moment to observe the cleanliness of that undercarriage.
