Sorry, but my thing is always about not raising the throttle to get going. Just blend and launch. I can do that with the Taco and have no issues accelerating faster than normal traffic.

Gimme a few and I'll post a vid.

    Edit:

That's so weird I find mine is so easy. I can take off no throttle just let go of the clutch. The easiest manual I've ever driven. I do notice the accumulator though. That is a little bit to be desired. I'd like to delete that eventually.

I don’t think I saw anyone say you can adjust the start sensor, but mine was pretty deep in as well. There’s been a few times I had to redo my position to get it to start. I didn’t find the clutch overly heavy, but that’s probably because I’ve owned a lot of sports cars that were much heavier. The accumulator gets a lot of attention but the engagement doesn’t bother me, and won’t fix OPs issue.

I had what sounds like a similar issue. Disengaging the clutch fully required moving my seat so far forward that my knees were then hitting the steering column.

I ended up adding a clutch pedal extender and that helped tremendously:

It's still not an ideal arrangement, but has made things more comfortable.

I don't know enough about the clutch position issue you mentioned, but that seems worth addressing, as the pedal extender is only 1.5" and it really changed the feel of the clutch pedal action.

I find 1st to be a tricky bugger when not at a complete stop. And 2nd under 1000 rpm is a dog. One pricey solution is a regear, tune is a bit less pricey but constantly evolving. I will say, with time, I can get it in first when moving with some patience and planning but it’s definitely a slow transition.

My ‘05 5 spd is less smooth and the clutch pedal is less refined but it also takes first when rolling with less effort. Or maybe I care less?

do you typically downshift when coming to a stop like that or were you just for the purpose of making that vid? just curious

Always shift down to at least 2nd gear.

forgive me because i basically taught myself how to drive stick, so never learned the 'most proper' way, but that seems like alot of additional clutch work for what benefit? I usually just brake in gear until pretty low RPM then throw it in neutral if coming to a full stop.

seems like premature brake wear would be more favorable than engine braking gained from downshifts?

I just like to row. No benefit other than my own enjoyment.

I have said it before, the beauty of an MT is that you can put it in the gear that you want when you want. If you want no gear at all, so be it.

    Thanks! I appreciate the compliment.

Mine was pretty bad with the accumulator and Stock tune. With the ADM and a tune, it feels like other MTs that we have had. Quite a lot of fun on twisty roads.

I consistently down shift and engine break - been driving MT for 30 years and never had an engine issue, brake issue or premature clutch wear for that matter.

Means I don't have to brake super hard and there are a few stop signs where I live that I can 'roll' doing this - and just start right into 2nd.

Will just putting it into 4wd high let you back up without having to rev it so high?

Does it matter what brand of SAE J1703 FMVSS 116 DOT 3 brake fluid is used when doing the ADM, or replacing clutch fluid at any point, or is there pretty much no difference, as long as it’s a DOT 3 brake fluid? e.g., AMSOIL, Valvoline, Peak, Prestone, Mobil, Lucas Oil, Toyota oem etc.
Tried searching, but didn’t find this specifically.

    It should not matter

That said, I am a fan of replacing the fluid with dot 3 low viscosity (lv) if you live in an environemnt that gets cold. If using my ADD (the disk) then I recomend it.

LV fluid has nearly identical viscosity when hot, but about half the viscosity when cold (brake fluid viscosity changes a LOT)
