    Hey guys,
I'm about to buy some 17" sport rim with no tpms and no lugs. What's it going to cost me to buy this stuff? Can the tpms from my stock steel wheels be converted to work with the 17" alloys? Can my lug nuts be used with the new rims? Thanks

I'm assuming you have stock steel wheels? There have been mixed success/failure stories converting the steel wheel TPMS sensors to an alloy wheel. Some installers were able to twist them so they work. Another option would be to get wheel straps. It's a steel strap that goes around the inside of the wheel. Your TPMS sensor would get attached to that and you'd use standard valve stems for filling. Buying new sensors can be expensive and you'd have to reprogram your truck to read the new sensors (unless you have the tools to do so yourself).

Not sure about the lugs, but I'd think the lugs are different from steel to alloy wheels. If you get a used factory set, you might be able to get the full set in the $50 range. New you'll get raped on the price. Check your local junk yards or keep your eyes open in the buy/sell/trade section.

Edit: Here is a link to the straps I was talking about.

Wow those straps seem like a bitch. What if I didnt want to use the sensors at all? Would removing them cause any problems?

your warning light would stay on and the shops may not want to install the tires without the sensors.

What about the factory lug nuts from my stock steel wheels? Will they work with 17" sport rims?

Sport rims take shank and washer.

    A few
steels come with tmps with 20 degree offset
alloy come with tmps with 40 degree offset

you need different lugs for the alloys.
