    need opinions or experiences

I currently have OME Dakar medium weight leaf springs on my 23' tacoma. im running fox 2.5 all around

at first, I hated them because they sit so high.. After it settled and I added some weight to the truck, the springs are sitting perfect... However, I am having some problems with the noises and creaking. Just driving into a driveway that is just a tad uneven, I hear BAD creaking. I have greased the springs and double checked the set up. Just making toooo much noise and at times I can feel it in the frame of the truck when flexing.

I called OME/ARB about this issue (they were no help).

    Anyone else have this issue?

I am leaning towards the Deaver stage 1 and I was wondering f people have issues with creaking and noise with deavers? anyone go from OME to deavers? thoughts?

Have you off roaded the truck or taken mall speed bumps at 40+ mph. The creaking could be the lower front shock bolt. It's probably bent and causing the noises or it could be the rack and pinon. The rear end will always squeak, crackle and make all kinds of noise. Have you washed the leaf springs and spray a little lubricant in them?

I have the deaver stage 2 and have not heard a peep yet, although I have only had them for about 4 months so hard to say.

My Deaver U402 stage 1's have been dead silent since day 1... I'm multiple years into ownership now. IMO, the Deavers are the top tier option.

There are small holes the bottom of the round isolator pads between the leafs. Get a needle greaser and pump some grease in there. Did it on mine when I installed the OME’s and they have been quiet the whole time.

glad to hear. I am willing to spend the extra money and make the switch. I only got these OMEs 5 months ago but just haven't been happy with them.

Just wondering? how much constant weight do you have with your stage 1? and any photos? im worried its a REALLY high lift in the rear. im not sure how much different the ?OME are

I have already done that.. I have even had a professional shop do it as well jus incase. They took apart the whole pack, replaced all the bushings and those little plastic fittings that go in between and it's even worse now.

Yes I have done lots of off roading and high speed bumps (LOL)

are you referring to the bolt that holds the shock to the LCA? Would there be play in the shock if that happened?

, yup that's I am referring to. I just ground down the lower lca bolt with a dremel and re installed. Works fine and no more horrible noise.
No play in the lca or shock, just a horrible noise of metal on metal. @Superdave1.0 can confirm this.

It helps to have a 2nd person listen to the squeaking from outside the truck. To verify exactly where it's coming from.

Deaver are a nice upgrade over OME. Definitely would be my first choice if budget allowed.

Not sure on the exact numbers... but a full size 33" spare, BAMF sliders, RSI smartcap, and a steel rear bumper. Even if I add a ton of weight (tools or camping) there is next to no sag. I think properly specified (stage 1, 2, or 3) net you about a 2" lift.

Deavers will custom design you a leaf pack, so you can get minimal lift, but I've been unsuccessful in getting a reply from their team... but I haven't tried that hard.

I have OME rear shocks and I'm ok with those. I keep hearing more and more complaints about Dakars that I'm looking more toward ICON RXT'S. (Not to throw another option in there, heh)
RXT'S have lift options and I haven't heard or read about any noise complaints.

I have OME heavy duty. Only thing with OME is that you need to keep up with maintenance. I grease each silencer pad and inside bottom of the rebound clips every 5k when I do my oil change or after doing a bunch of trails and off-roading, pressure wash and then grease.

It's honestly not too hard to do, jack the truck up by the frame or sliders till the rear tire comes off the ground, use a pry bar to separate the leaf's and silencer pads and give it a quick blast of some red n tacky. I use the red n tacky aerosol can since I can easily spray it with the little straw thing it comes with.

Yes I spoke to Deaver and they said if I have them do the install, they can customize my pack to my liking. I am hoping they can get it looking good..

Have you checked the front corners of your bed and where they rest on the frame? I can't remember where the thread is, but somebody was getting all kinds of noise from there just from the regular bounces and jostles of daily driving.

I have stage 1, ride has been great once everything broke in, i creak but I doubt it’s the deavers, more likely to be other components flexing a bit from what it sounds like.

Anyone that's having trouble sorting out creaking, screeching, or clunking suspension components, should give this thread a read. No need to grind your shock bolts, just order a set without the "shoulder".
