i read some old threads but the products the reccommend seem to be no longer available or real expensive

I am picking up a tear drop camper. It requires a 2'' ball coupler pin (size is 1/4inch diameter). Height is 16inch

    I have a 2020 tacoma off road.

I believe I need a 2inch hitch with 5/8 pin. I do not think i need an adjustable height hitch based on the camper requirements?

Can someone recommend a hitch and key that will work wiht my setup? Thanks

Doesn't your truck already have a "tow receiver" aka "hitch" installed?

If so, then it seems that you need a ball receiver and the correct size ball.

If you post a picture of the truck and the trailer that would be helpful.

Do you already have the trailer? The best thing to do is measure how high the ball needs to be to have the trailer level WITH YOUR LOAD (in case there is a "cargo" area in the front of the teardrop cabin to load water/firewood/propane" and then buy the correct rise/drop ball receiver to your truck so things sit correctly.

Or buy an expensive adjustable height ball receiver.

    I drive a Miata.

That trailer looks taller than 16 inches, but what do I know.

Here's what I would do. Buy two drawbars: one with a standard 2"drop / 1" rise, the other with a 4" drop. They both sell for cheap, and both are available with tow ball attached. Bring them both when you go to pick up the trailer. If you want to be triple sure, bring a big-honking adjustable wrench in case you want to flip one of them upside down.

Use the one that gets your trailer closest to level, keep the other in your garage in case you want to rent a Uhaul or something. That should at least get you home, and if you want to fine tune it for future runs, you could always buy another bar.

For just a random example, my trailer below is on a one inch rise, and that's despite the truck being on a small lift.

16 inches tall would be a 4" drop on my truck, since my hitch is 21" from the ground.
