My dog is only like 30 pounds so its easy to put him in and take him out of the rtt. he has like no fur either so he gets cold and needs to sleep with us when we camp most of the time anyway

What is the general accepted overhang for soft-shell tent? Looking at a 23Zero Walkabout in the 72". I'm in the process or rebuilding the rack on my trailer, and I am going to have the farthest apart bars 54" apart, with two more in-between. Would give me 9" of overhang on each side. I called 23Zero who said they don't recommend more than a total of 12" of overhang combined, so 6" on each side. But then when I talked some more they also said my plan seemed fine. I don't think 9" on each side would be too much but wondering people's thoughts.

I don't think you would have any issues whatsoever.

Nick! Didn’t want to keep bothering you with questions so figured I would try someone else. Lol. I think I’m going to take your word for it. There’s a sale and you can also use a code to get $450 off right now. So might just do it.

I bought my first smittybilt on a big sale like that and had the same exact issue. I think mine was listed for 800 or 900 so I jumped on it. waited for shipping for a couple months, contacted Amazon a couple times. After the 3rd time they contacted the seller and found out the seller only had 2 in stock when they dropped the price and over sold their quantity and had no plans to restock but was completely fine sitting on the payments people had made. Amazon refunded my money and said "good luck". Ordered from 4wp and got free freight since there is a 4wp 20 min from my house.

If you are looking for a comparable option I know Tuff Stuff is supposedly made in the same factory as Smittybilt and pressed with a different logo on the skin of the tent. I looked into the OVS ones they look pretty comparable with a better latter option than smitty and tuff stuff. Looks like the OVS nomadic3 is 450 off right now as well making it priced pretty well for the size.

Had a CVT and currently a Smittybilt gen 2… It’s all made in China junk. Have also had a GFC superlite but didn’t like setting it up (needs gas struts).. Leaning towards the OVS 3 bc it’s a little wider sleeping footprint.

Ikampers are good quality stuff, made in Korea… But I ain’t spending $2K.. Trying to keep it under $1200 shipped.. Might have to wait until Black Friday

Any of you run RTTs on offroad trailers?
Looking for inspiration and real world opinions. I’m currently scheming, and thinking of moving the camping setup off-truck so I can do more wheeling.

    Those are pretty damn slick!

I dig the Mr Hankey

I came across a targeted ad this morning for this trailer and I was thinking of building my own tent mount for it. I like that the trailer could be used for around the house stuff too if need be.

The smittybilt trailer has always piqued my interest too, because it’s very feature rich for the price tag. Being Smitty brand I realize it’s not premium but it might be good for a first trailer to get my feet wet.

Made the move this summer. Found a used AT Overland Horizon trailer. So far very happy with it and think it's going to solve a lot of my problems.

That thing looks ready for anything!
That sort of trailer looks ideal to me. Not too big for most trails, and not built out of paper thin sheet metal and hopes and dreams. I want to be able to drag the thing places that would make a normal trailer blush.
