Yeah I think with everything new..... I was at $6K.......$1700 was labor...

but that was new everything.....2yrs /block.....3yrs/head...

.....including whole header to tail pipe new exhaust system....

Like I said..... I didnt want to go back........even new flex plate.....

The only place I really dropped the ball, is I should have done a new front tranny seal while engine was out...

So I get to do another fun adventure........hello tranny caddy....

    yeah.....what a bitch......

That head is coming from someone who doesnt sell em all the time...

In fact he has zero feedback for automotive sells.....

You could make him em an offer for $500......if you feel like a gambling man....

with the shipping he probably wont take it.......but but if you explain your taking a chance....

    he might....

I've rolled the dice and bought open box iphones and iwatches in the past by making an offer....

understanding if the discount is significant......you wont be able to return.....stuck with it.....

These 3rz are most likely descendants of marine engines...

terrible HP.....super heavy block....but built to last and last...

its too bad the heads cause so many problems...

the gen2's dont have this problem......well after they got thru the shity oil ring phase......

Yeah they actually recommend you replace that...

I did on mine....but I'll reuse it from now on.....cause I know its history....

If that bolt backs off its your worst nitemare.....means a new crank shaft.....

    crank3RZ.jpg

Only time I've seen em back off .....is when the Harmonic Balancer is going out.....all that starts to wobble.....especially under load or AC running....

Haven't had time to work on it, just got off my 48 hour shift. But it does looked cracked, it extends down where the valve was. I'm curious if that red path I drew was the path of the coolant, how it's all clean?

He says in that video.....the surface cracks only get worse over time....

I'm starting to suspect they use lower quality 6000 series aluminum in these heads...

that aluminum is alot cheaper and much easier/softer to machine than 7000.....

Again as I've said.....think its an old dirty egr that causing the overheating in the first place...
that and possibly old coolant.... corroded radiator......iron exhaust header...

maybe that aluminum is like old copper...gets pretty brittle 20/30 years later.

reflairing lines that old is spooky.....

Just got the full toyota gasket kit, I know what all the parts are for except these 3?

I have one of each rubber piece and 16 of the middle pieces.

    Any ideas?

Can't help you but I do know that I wasn't happy when I spent that much on the same kit you have and it came with no index.
