Does anyone tow a boat with their 3rd gen? If so what are you towing? Does your trailer have surge brakes? How does it handle? What size boat are we talking if you are towing?

I used to tow a 20’ Champion Bass w/ my 2017 Tacoma. The trailer had surge brakes. It towed ok around VA. Towing w/ my previous Tundra was better. The issue I had w/ the Tacoma was if the road was damp and you needed to do a hard or emergency stop the trailer brakes would lock up and the trailer and boat would push you. I just left a lot of room between me and the traffic ahead when damp or raining. Hope this helps.

Had a waterpump failure on the Sienna with the 3,5l and the pulley came off the shaft. Had broken down in Vienna and for a 50mile tow with their towing assistance Progressive wanted a 370$ copayment (yeah, three hundred seventy).

So what does everyone use for road side assistance? if you have road side assistance through your insurance and they cover over 75$; Who do you have?
I was shopping around last night and the coverages are less and the prices higher than what I currently pay.

Below was a quick experian insurance middleman quote but USAA came in close to SafeCo which I have never heard off. Elephant does i66 roadside assistance out west. Everyone else was in between but their towing/assistance deals were less than Progressive.

I use AAA and pay for the top tier. It’s $150 a year I think? But has a ridiculous amount of towing miles, as well as plenty of other benefits, including $150 annually of locksmith fees. I had a new key cut and programmed with the company of my liking and AAA refunded me with no fight at all. And, you can use it on friends cars too as long as you’re there when the tow truck driver arrives. Anyways, I don’t remember all the specifics but that’s what I use.

If you're a Costco member, it's worth it to take a look at their insurance. We bundled our cars and home and no one can touch the rates. And we have had zero issues with auto claims. I haven't had to use towing, but if I remember right its a pretty generous allowance on towing. I don't recall what the out of pocket is, but it won't be $370.
