I removed those annoying stickers on the sun visor.
With the sun setting earlier now, I'm realizing just how bright the dashboard is at night, even when dimmed to the lowest setting.

    It's a strain on my middle-aged eyes.

I've already unplugged the light in the wireless phone charger cubby, but I'd like to disable the lighting on some of the other buttons that don't need it, such as the ones on the steering wheel, door lock & window controls, radio, and the overhead sunroof & emergency call buttons.

I'm assuming there's a wire I can cut to disable the LED without disabling the button itself. Before I start pulling things apart, does anyone happen to know what wire to look for? I would assume it should be the same for all.

Edit: Yes, I twisted the odometer knob all the way counter-clockwise. It was the first thing I did when I bought the truck.

Have you tried dimming everything yet? It's really no more obnoxious than any other vehicle that's been around since the 90's

You do have the headlights on, correct? Not just rolling around with DRLs?

'Cause when the headlights go on, the dash really dims a lot.

I'm in for user error root cause. 50 cent.

Went to the garage 30 secs ago to check.

    Confirmed, yes you can.

Edit, near complete dark. There's still a hint there that might bother a mole person.

No you can't. Compared to my other cars the Tacoma ranges from normal to insane solar flare briteness. All my other cars will go down to off.

Is it possible that OP’s Light Dimmer Rheostat Switch is not working correctly?

My 16 says other wise, just tried it, complete darkness if turned all the way down. Why would they change that on a 22

It's more likely that they didn't know where the control is located. Surprisingly few people do. It's also surprising that many people don't realize that the rear view mirror has two points of articulation and can be raised/lowered.

You know Rock Lobster, after spending 30 to 40k on a truck you would think Toyota should put a book… manual in the glove box so they could learn about the vehicle they just purchased. Go figure.

Why do that, my truck is in the garage with no lights on, still can dim them to total darkness.

Even at it's lowest setting. It's A LOT than any vehicle I've owned in the past, and I've been driving for 29 years.

I agree. I try to be more understanding when people ask about the lesser used features. But if you ask how to engage S mode shifting, yeah you're getting roasted.

I've driven a lot of vehicles at night in my life and I can firmly say I've never thought the Tacoma was too bright and definitely not brighter than any other vehicle I've ever driven. Perhaps you have an issue or night mode isn't active.

Ditto. I've been driving for 29 years, and this is by far brighter than any vehicle I've ever owned, even when dimmed to their lowest setting.

I'm accustomed to dimming them so that it's just a faint glow, one step above off. These ones cannot even be turned completely off.
