alright...moron report time. buckle up kids.

so my boss likes to "help". usually when he helps it just means more work for me cleaning up the mess that he makes. he seems to live by the motto that doing something half assed is the same as a job well done. he doesn't really know how to do my job even though he's had me show him how to do things multiple times. information retention on his part is about 5% even if we record training videos for him to refer back to. he seems to like to do things the most complicated, confusing way possible and me showing him that there is an easier way just doesnt seem to interest him
on top of that he's hired assistants for me. and he's trained them. refused to let me have any involvement in their training. that started about a year ago.
since then my workload has doubled. before moron came on board i was able to clear off my schedule daily and rarely had a backlog of work. i was usually weeks ahead of the shop. now it takes me forever to get through a project because i have to spend hours finding and fixing his and the assistants mistakes before i can actually start my work. on average i'm booked out a week in advance. this is bad for a few reasons - every project goes through me before it goes to the customer and again before it goes to the production line. So if I get bogged down then both customers are pissed off waiting and I have 20+ guys standing around the shop twiddling their thumbs because i'm not turning work over to them fast enough.
now is our busy season and things are just starting to ramp up and will continue to get worse through to the new year. i could foresee the current clsuter fuck happening months ago and suggested to moron that we needed to switch things up. flip flop responsibilities and let me train my assistant. absolutely not. he wouldnt even consider the idea. so we had a department wide meeting right after i got back from vacation a few weeks ago. everyone was on my ass about how long things are taking. not my fault. i explained the issue to the group. told them my ideas to help alleviate the backlog. told them i could fix things today. every single person in the room is like "yeah! that sounds like it will work. why aren't we doing that?!?!" moron boss interupts and says that he doesnt want to talk about it and we arent changing anything. everyone in the room is completely puzzled. i told everyone that my hands are tied - i'm doing everything i can to keep my head above water and moron is standing on my shoulders tap dancing.
so something must have happened at the end of last week - i'm guessing that one or both of our two top clients that account for 80% of our work maybe called the big boss and threatened to take their business else where - but no one is talking. anywho...moron calls me and wants to give it a try doing things my way. thank fucking god.

so now the question is why was he so adamant in continuing to do something in a manner that obviosouly wasnt working? was he thinking that he could train a replacement for me and eventually make me expendable? i know he hates me so that wouldn't surprise me. or was he so determined to not admit that i was right and he was wrong that he was willing to sink a multi million dollar a year business?

    Good evening everyone!

Sounds like Wheeler Walker Jr, great tune!

Sweet jimmny Christmas.. maybe since you had your chance to sell you ideas to the crowd instead just the pointy hair dufuss and the crowd liked your ideas, you - in a back handed sort of way- embarrassed him enough ( and took the spot light off of you) that he had to give your ideas a try. Just watch out so he doesn't intentionally sabotage your ideas, to give himself the chance to say 'told you so'... you're a smart gal, you probably already have thought through this scenario. I hope that you turn things around and get everything going as smoothly as possible.

i know i had him backed in a corner in the meeting. i just wish i had been in the room to see his face and not have been on a conference call at the time
and yeah, i need to make this work so i've already gone to a couple of others and made sure that they understood i need them on my side in this and we have to do everything we can to make it work better doing it my way.

    :hattip:Good morning everyone

Back to work today for me. I have to schedule 5 days off before October 9, which is when my vacation renews for next year. I’m thinking short weeks the rest of the month.

Enjoy your day. Stay off the 6 o’clock news.
