I am looking for a set of plug n play led headlight upgrades from the stock halogen headlights. Looking to spend less than 800 otd. So far I can only find the gtr carbides as a potential pair but I heard they are just china knockoffs and may not last a long time. Other option are the Raxiom led headlights but they are like 900 after tax. Thanks!

    What model truck.

LED isn't always the cats meow. And what any lamp is housed in is critical to results

yea its a 23 sport. I would go oem but to buy them is over 1k for a set since its not factory installed. You also need to get a conversion harness with them. With the ones I mentioned they come plug n play.

If I am going to spend over 1k why not just get a set of morimotos at that point? Are the gtr carbide led headlights or the raxiom led headlights not a good option?

Don’t waste your money, buy the OEM LEDS or nothing at all. If you want to be cheap you can get much better light output than you have now with a new set of better halogen bulbs. That will outperform the cheap LED headlight units.

Those GTR Carbides and Raxiom assemblies are far from ideal. Quality will certainly be... questionable. Morimoto fares better, but comes with its own setbacks. In particular, the cheap adjusters that break if you twist them more than three times.

@daveeasa sells a quality conversion harnesses for the Tacoma.

Here's my two cents. For some perspective, for the price of a pair of OEM LEDs on the Tacoma, it costs me ONE LED headlight for my CX-5. Granted, it comes standard, but if I'm in the position to replace one, I'm screwed.

If you're dead set on LED bulbs (and I implore you to read the lighting thread), the Morimoto 2Stroke 3.0 preforms the best. Do note that a set of halogen H9s outperforms them for a fraction of the cost.

To offset the cost, sell your factory halogen assemblies. Somebody will want them.

It's your money and your truck, so do what pleases you. But as Bill and others have mentioned, OEM LEDs are the way to go to do it right. Buy once, cry once type of purchase. I have the OEM LED's and they amazing. I dont think I'll ever go back to halogen. Only downside is LED doesnt produce a lot of heat to melt ice/snow in the winter. Luckily, I live in NC and do not have that issue much.

I agree with the H9 upgrade being a much better and cheaper upgrade than LED bulbs. I did the H11 to H9 upgrade on my current F150 and the bulbs were like $10 per a bulb at Menards and the light output is better than stock.
