Wow, your story is so similar to mine!

I bought my 2017 TRD Sport at a Ford Dealership two years ago with about 80K miles. A day or so later, I got the CEL with the P11EE code. The dealership attempted to throw parts at it. but after it came up the second time, they sent it to a Toyota Dealer who completed a leak down test and gave a recommendation of replacing the cylinder head.

I noticed that the truck had been at a Toyota Dealership 10 days before the previous owner traded it in. I called the Toyota Dealership and ask what it was being serviced for. They stated that it was in for a Cylinder 3 misfire or CEL code P11EE. I asked if they ever clear codes at the request of the previous owner and they said "absolutely not". This dealership was kind enough to send me email receipts of that servicing (omitting any classified info of the previous owner) and once I received this info I spent my evenings for the next two weeks at the Ford Dealership, until I had a meeting with the GM.

I very nicely told the GM that with this information that I had, who's to say that his service techs cleared the code before it hit the lot, in hopes that the lucky loser choses not to purchase a 3rd party extended warranty (I will never make this mistake again!!!!) and in-turn, will have to pay the dealership for a new cylinder head/engine.

He called me the next day with news that I will not be paying anything out of pocket.

So far, 20k miles in and I have had no issues with the truck.

Didnt see your reply till now, but that’s good to know. I just made a revisit follow up post based on how people made out after having this repair done. Let me ask you, how’s your gas mileage? Mine seems not as good as I was expecting. Any other things you noticed about performance on yours?

I want to say when I had the busted cylinder head, I was getting 16/17 mpg.

My commute to work used to be all highway up until a couple months ago and I was getting 22/23 mpg.
Now, my commute is all city streets and it's about 20/21 mpg.

My truck still has stock suspension and tires too.

Thanks for the reply. I had just recently acquired a set of the stock tires that came off a 2023 trd pro. 17” rims. Guy only had about 600 miles on them so in great shape. Put them on and my mpg seems to be a little better at about 16 now. I was hoping for it to be a little better. Mines a 4x4 trd off road with everything stock, well, except for these tires I just got.

Hey same exact problem with a 2019 Tacoma back in 2021. Repairs done under warranty—replaced cylinder head
    Your not alone
