Just dropped the truck off again today. This time I did a test drive with one of the techs and showed him the noise. He definitely heard it. The noise has also started to develop a sort of rattle. Unknown if it is the same part that is causing the squeak or not, but it seems like it would fit a heat shield and or a crack in an exhaust tube.

Update: the tech found a loose exhaust hanger just behind the Y-pipe. They claim the noise is now gone after tightening it up. I'll be picking the truck up soon to verify it. That would make a lot of sense if that was it. Fingers crossed!

I'm sorry you've had such an overall mess, but glad to hear of a dealership that has been helpful in working through the issues.

Thanks. These guys have been friendly and professional and I've never felt like they've tried to screw me in any way. Plus, I can definitely understand when they have a difficult time locating the issue when it was so difficult to learn how to replicate it. Hopefully I can get back to visiting for regular maintenance though and not extra issues.

Initial impression is that the noise is gone! Taking a look underneath, I can't tell for certain which one they adjusted since there's none that bolt on. But it does look like they possibly slid the rubber hanger just forward of the muffler toward the back, judging based on the cleaner looking metal on the metal rods. A lot of frustration for something that simple and not obvious but I'll take it if that's what solved it!

I have not heard the noise return now that I've had a chance to drive the truck for a few days. Amazing how something so simple could be easily overlooked. If I had to guess, when they removed the heads, they jostled around the exhaust pipes and caused the hanger to either come loose or just get knocked out of place. Below is a photo of the hanger I believe they were talking about. I would have never thought about this considering the piece is rubber.
